While i was cruising around New Zealand i see a toyota driving around and it sounded oddly different. I look at the back and it was a diesel.

Yeah, it's common... Spent 5 months in AUS last year... . there's millions of Toyota Diesel's (and Nissan's)... . from old Land Cruisers (80's models)... . up through the new one based off of the new Tacoma..... with a nice wiked 3. 0 TD..... drove one for a few km's... . very nice UTE as they call em... offroad package, lightforce lights with a "Roo" (Kangaroo) Bar, Snorkel... and the works... . I dont want a small truck, but if I did, I'd pay to import one of those! :)

I saw an interesting looking SUV deal on the Toy lot yesterday, did'nt notice anything about it being a diesel. Looked like a cross between a Rav and a Tacoma, very rounded edges.

its the new land cruiser, thing is UGLY!

Yes, that's it, it looked smaller in the lot than on that pic.

So long as they stick a diesel in it folks might not matter about it being ugly.

After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, looking under the skirt (hood) at a diesel engine made by Toyota could be a bueatiful thing.

With the Jeep CRD selling like gang busters, you would think it to be a no-brainer. No offence AK- there'd better be more than just a cute diesel under THAT skirt... I loved my FJ, and was disapointed when this came out. Kinda low to the ground, don't ya think? Must be a "tippy canoe" thing.

Go to www.toyota.com.au.....vehicles-? look at the hilux... . that's what I was talking about..... also, look at the land cruiser 78..... old as dirt, no turbo (at least not the one i drove)... . geared real low... awsome in the dirt, crappy on the road...

I have to laugh at this, since I am Australia right now for work, the numbers of diesel ute's and everything else is so cool! I wish I could get a diesel cruiser with a solid front axle and a 5 speed in the states. They are right though, pretty much every truck and sport ute is available in diesel here.

Every station has Diesel, and most of them have a LPG filling pump for your car too, looks just like the "regular" petrol pumps. Of course I am paying $1. 40 per liter (about 4. 50 US a gallon) here right now and traveling about 100 miles a day!

Picked up a couple 4x4 magazines also, I knew they had cool accessories here, but the outback camp trailers are wild, spendy but really cool. Heck you can buy a 200 liter aux tank for almost anything 4 wheel drive here for those long trips. Some of the trails here are 2000 Km or longer, with one fuel stop along the way, if you call a month in advance and have them deliver it for you. Wish I had more time here, or less work to do.
