I never ceased to be amazed at what is sitting in barns around the great land we call America. A 1998 Schwable Peterbilt with 57,000 original two owner miles. Both owners used the truck only to pull an RV... ... ... ... . 8. 3 mechanical pump Cummins coupled to an MD 3060 Allison.

I am flying out to Palm Springs Sunday to pick it up Monday and start heading back home.

Amazing... ... ... ... ... ... . And I get paid to do this!

Bob, I don't get involved in sales. I have been in wholesale so long I would not know how to deal with retail folks... ... ... ... . Tuesday while talking with our truck store manager when I dropped off the M2 I picked up in NY on Monday, he said he had a guy that wanted him to call when the PeterCar hit the yard.

It is a very rare, unusual piece. I am looking forward to the trip even though I am still tired from leaving last Thursday morning, being in central Illinois Friday afternoon to pick up a SuperCrewzer with my driver and then I went on to NY to pick up the M2... ... ... .

If you can't run with the big dawgs, best you just stay on the porch!

It looks like an RV in it's self, foot longer than a well rope:D

Nick

Can you imagine unhooking that monster from a big fifth wheel in an RV park, if you can find a spot long enough and enough space to maneuver it, and going to town for a loaf of bread and a jug of milk? I can understand why it only has 47k miles on it in 15 years. All that weight and wind drag and only about 300 hp. ? A late model Ram/CTD would run circles around it!!

Bill

Nick, these units normally come with 4 captains chairs and then a couch in the back that electrically lays down into a bed. This particular one deleted the center captains chairs so that folks could ball room dance while going down the road... ... ... ... .

So true Uncle Bill, but then anyone can arrive at the rodeo in a pickup truck... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .....

:-laf: :-laf Barry, you got that right... I've seen some of those rigs. It's unbelievable how much they spend for wheels to haul their rodeo stock. :D

Bill, I came throughMt. Pleasant today. Sentyou a pm but I reckon you missed it. I was in my truck with a little horse trailer.
Okie

That is why people are unloading the Medium Duty Trucks these days and going with the new Ram's.

Cummins12, I think you have been listening to another knowit all that post's on here too much. After driveing and using a medium duty truck to pull trailers I can't see a person going back to a 3500. Talk to someone that does it everyday not just on vacation pulling their trailer. You will get a different opinion. Very few of the people that talk negative about the mdt to pull a trailer have never had one or driven and used one.

Yep, sorry I missed it. However, I enjoyed the phone conversation this evening... it's been a long time since Buckhorn Lake RV. :D

And all those people that are "unloading" their MDT's, please tell them to call me... ... ... ... ..... I'm a BUYER! Can't find enough of them!

Just tell them to go to our website www.DHMCO.com Click on the icon "We buy your trailer" The message will get to me.

I have bought and picked up these 4 in the last two weeks.
1) 2007 Freightliner SportChassis Apple Valley, Calif.
2) 1999 Freightliner SportChassis Mobile, Al.
3) 2001 Ford F650 SuperCrewzer Watseka, IL.
4) 2006 FL M2 Hilton, NY

5) Pick up the 98 Pete in Yucca Valley, Calif. this coming Monday morning.

Talked to plenty in the Campgrounds (full timers) that are trying to unload their Medium duty rigs and some are having a hard time because they are not as desirable since the newer 3500's are so much more capable.

Just my observations, not listening to anyone for my opinion.

Sponsors pay for those rigs heading to the Rodeo. That rig will probably retail around $200-300K, about the 3500 competing against that rig, Hell no. A 5500 can match up a little better, but if sponsors are paying, I'll take a MD. ;)

the MDT is great for towing and you can stop it to , not as fast as the 3500 for sure but let me say again you can stop it . I switched and parked the ram on the farm.

that's an Oliver 770. It's a stock puller . My brother and I tractor pull , we have 3 tractors we pull in different classes a Oliver 66 for light , an Oliver 770 for the middle and a Farmall 450 for heavy up to 9000 pounds . Do you pull ? I just couldn't stop the old Ram with any weight on the trailer so I went to a MDT. I miss the power the 3500 had but I'd rather be safe . Coming over the Blue Ridge last weekend with this truck we didn't even have to put brakes on going either way . the old 466 held her back , man what a difference. No, it's not as comfortable either .

We haven't pulled in a number of years now, but we have an old JD A up in the garage that we used to pull dead weight with on a regular basis. Cousin across the road still pulls a Farmall M. Other neighbor travels all over with a bunch of just beautiful Minneapolis-Molines.

Nice tow rig. I wish more of the pullers would haul with a truck like that insead of some of the things you see them show up with.

No, I do not pull personally, but tractor pulls and truck pulls are some of my favorites. As to comfort in the MDTs, as folks began to buy them, the industry began to cater to that market... ... ... ... . air ride suspensions, Air ride cabs, air ride seats, big captain chairs. All those gave a ride and drive that is very comfortable.

While your older Farmall may not have all those creature comforts, as far as braking is concerned, when you came over the Blue Ridge last weekend, did you notice you did not have to stop at the bottom and take 30 minutes to get the upholstery out of your butt?
