Can anyone give me things to look for watch out for on this truck?

Oh, has 6spd, don't know yet if nv5600 or g56 might go to look at this week.

Any help would be appreciated.

He said had lift blocks on front to level out also.

37000 miles.

Check the Vent/Blend door. Friend bought an 03' without checking the HVAC. His truck has dual zone AC. Passenger side is weak. Is this a dualie? Check for water stains from the clearance lights. Check door seals for water intrusion. Look for codes. Check total hours on the truck. Your looking for an average of drive time versus engine hours. My G56 has reverse to the left and down. Shifts very smooth. Some of the early G56 needed additional lube for lack of prelube at the factory. I think the consensus was if the G56 was going to fail it would do so very early in life. At 37k, sounds like this transmission is beyond that.

Not DRW

It's not DRW.

Should I look for an 03 or 04 with the NV5600?

He** maybe just keep my 94!!?

Such decisions!#@$%!

It's an '05 so it's got the G56. Good transmission from everything I have seen. WCJP covered just about everything else.

Have you driven both? I have and there is NO WAY I would seek out a NV5600 truck. The G56 is a much more user friendly transmission, much easier shifting and I have yet to see any real problems with them. The 5600 can fail, and some have with a bunch of power added. TDR had an article about the two and by my read the G56 is the better one. The one pitfall is the dual mass flywheel that comes with the G56 and not the NV box. The DMF probably will fail and need replacement before 100k. My '06 G56 truck has 75k on it, most of those miles as somebody's heavy hauling work truck. I haven't noticed any problems , or any sign that there are going to be problems. I like it a whole lot better than the NV5600 trucks I drove.

'05 - watch out for dual air conditioner controls

If you are looking at an '05 with dual air conditioner controls, you need to check the temperature differences from the driver and passenger side. I have about 50,000 miles on my '05 dually and the only problem has been the dual control air conditioner. It has been serviced by the dealer several times. This last time, they drained the entire system and refilled it to full pressures and it has been fine. They claim that they mix oil in the fluid and that is the cause of the problem. Apparently it settles and doesn't permit the cooling to occur correctly.

I thought their story was crazy but the solution has worked for the past 4 months.

Good luck!
