Well, I've been searching for a good 12 valve for a good 3 months, and I think I finally found one. 1998 quad cab 4x4 with 57,000... yes only 57,000. Well I guess my question is... what should I look out for with this specific truck? Thanks, Buck

Find out if the dowel pin has been taken care of. When I purchased my truck it had 58,000 on it and the dowel pin was quite aways out. There is alot of info on here about fixing the KDP Good luck!!

That is a awesome find, you will love it. Hopefully it's not priced to match the milage.

Buck, that's quite a find. At that mileage, it should be good to go anywhere.

One thing to always check if the air intake system is stock is dust on the clean side of the filter housing. I've popped the air filter apart on many (50+) 2nd gen trucks at auctions and some have had so much dust on the clean side of the filter housing (inside top) that you could write your name in the dust. Many stock filters and housings don't seal well. This could cause the rings/block to wear prematurely.

Other than runnin a carfax to make sure it's not from a flood somewhere and doing the normal checks on a used vehicle, not much else to do.

On second thought, it's likely a piece of poop, tell me where it's at and I'll take it out of circulation for you. :>)

Good luck, RR
