Have him check out the classified section on this site, that is where I found mine a couple of years back. I would suggest he might want to think about having the torque converter upgraded if it already hasn't in what ever truck he gets. It seems I read alot of posts about auto trannys being a pain in the rump. I wouldn't know I have a 5 speed, and that is the only way to go in my opinion. But to each his own,I see where an auto would be a good choice at times but I am glad I bought a 5 speed. Good luck. Also he may want to check out the truck trader online.

If auto is a must I would definitely have it checked out by some one who is adapt at the combo of a cummins and a dodge auto trouble points as they are numerous especially if not maintained. The auto 1st gens are usually available because of a transmission prob. Sometimes they have been just redone only to be unloaded usually with the rebuilder being told that in advance so the job is done to get it moving so it can be sold.

I have a '92 1st gen listed in the classifieds for $11K on this site. It has just about everything you would want in a truck for pulling a trailer. It is in gem condition. Email me if you want detailed info regarding the truck (email address listed in classifieds).

Thanks.
