New or used

2X or 4X ?

i had seen a setup that hooks to the king pin of a 5th wheel trailer and then to a goose ball in the bed of a truck. anyone know who makes it?

The one I used was by quickhitch.com; of coures just as others had warned me, it tore up the front of my fiver, in under 3000 miles.

Some get by with them OK, many have incurred large fiver repair jobs. Fivers are not stressed for that use. A search here should turn up prior discussions on this.

As poorly as most 5er's are built I don't doubt it. Probably, a better option might be the fifth wheel unit that locks into the turn a ball system(gooseneck) rather than with rails. B&W makes one I think. I don't pull a 5er but I would hate to have those stupid rail things constantly bolted in my bed floor.

The gooseneck adapters that bolt onto 5th wheel pin boxes are definitely NOT RECOMMENDED. 5th wheel frames are not designed or constructed for the stresses imposed by the longer moment arm of the gooseneck-style hitch, and many users have reported frame failures in the pinbox area of their 5th wheel RVs using these gooseneck adapters. Caveat emptor!

Someone I know has/had a camper that had a gooseneck hitch instead of the 5ver. Don't know if it is still available. It was an older one. Don't remember the yr. or make.
