Ok, title says it.

Years ago I was watching a movie on television,, about 5-10 years ago.

It was a movie where the United States got a signal from outer space and "scientist's" were trying to figure out the mixed message when it turned out to be instructions to build a machine. The machine had like 3 rings that rotated on different axis and they were supposed to drop a sphere with a person inside into the middle of this ring at an exact moment. The machine was huge, several hundred feet high. Seems the first machine malfunctioned or was sabotaged? I can't remember, but there was a second one built, and the lady who had figured out the code, (which I could swear was helen hunt) was wisked away overseas where a second had been built. She got in the sphere, and when she was dropped, when she got in the middle she was transported to some other planet for a long time, but the people watching from the outside just saw the sphere fall straight through without stopping, and the movie ended with her being in a mental instuition.

Or something like that, LOL.

If anybody has any idea what theis move is called, or any info I can google, I would appreciate it. I'm working my brain, but I can't recall any actors, or a name...

Thanks,

Merrick

OH OH OH OH,, Yes, yes, yes, yes!!!

Thank you thank you.

I saw it on TV.

Is it worth seeing with the family on DVD?

Thank you MCummins for asking, and WCPoe for posting that IMDb for Movies. Some years ago on PBS I saw a foreign movie I believe French titled Manon, one of the best if not the best move I ever saw in my life. It was captioned in English, sort of one flim in a Lifetime effort. Even for a no-nonsense male, a very moving story. On clicking on to that site and typing in Manon, Bango, a whole sackful came up, I will spend the whole evening pursuing, a hope, not to be a fruitless search. Thanks again, TDR has Everything.

nickleinonen, that site goes back to Day One, and even further, by my reckoning, if one does not see it there, it never happened, granted one only remembers the famous ones, but I noticed a lot of foreign ones also. I am not a movie buff, but one can renew ones knowledge of a particular movie, stars, etc. plus story just like an encyclopedia.

Now that we've figured out Merrick's, I got one.

There was this movie I saw when I was a kid about these guys who built a time machine out of a car (like an old Camaro or Mustang or something). It had a HUGE engine with a giant blower sticking up out of the hood.

The only scene I still remember they're driving this thing down a road at night next to high tension power lines. You see them accelerate until they actually pass the electricity in the lines.

Not a clue what it was called, when I saw it, nothing. Heck, maybe it wasn't even a movie... could've been a dream.
