I know most people on TDR do not like the BANKS product. I am not looking for any flame on this post. I am just looking for some facts and advice. With that being said here are my questions.

Has anyone installed injectors and another Turbo with the BANKS Ottomind? If so what was your results. Did you have any problems?

I have the Banks Brake as well. How will this impact the upgraded Turbo? Will I have to purchase a different Exhaust brake?

Has anyone installed a CATCHER with the Banks product? Results?

I contacted Banks to ask this question and they couldn't give me an answer so I am coming here to the experts. I was told by a shop that if I wanted to upgrade my injectors and turbo I would also have to switch to the Edge product. My biggest question is why. Has anyone run into such a thing? I was told by a Banks technician that the Ottomind provided the most fuel of any box out on the market. Does anyone have any concrete data on this? My thought if this was true then why isn't everyone using them? Or is their product just overspeeding the VP-44 over and beyond what the Edge Comp does.

I want to be in the 500 range when I get done. I have done a lot of work to prepare for this, I just don't want to spend another 600 bucks for an Edge Comp if I don't need to.

Okay, no Banks flames. Just the truth.

Yeah, I installed a Banks PP and an EZ and some DD IIs.

My '01 ETH died a horrible death as a result. It was ugly. My headgasket didn't blow. It exploded. In the mountains of upstate NY 700 miles from home.

My recovery, repair and rebuild cost exceeded $10,000. 00.

Thanks, Gale.

The Banks Brake is a top quality unit. It works with all HX 35 & 35/30 hybrids like my Dodgezilla, but not the HX 40 , Schweitzer & Garrett based spinners. The Ottomind is a timing +fueling box. AS such, it is not, like the Edge Comp, the best choice with a CaTCHER. The CaTCHER "special" is intended for use with such boxes. Running two timing programs simultaneously is looking for problems. Sue you can run bigger sticks with the Ottomind, but you will need turbo & transmission/clutch upgrades if you go much larger than say Bosch 275's

Banks PP and an EZ?????? No wonder you lost your head gasket, way too much timing. You can't blaim Gale for that one!

I have the Big Hoss level 5 with DDII's and it can get toasty really fast. I will be dynoing next month with a group from TDR in Vermont so I will be able to trll you exactly what my results are. It runs great and I have no complaints. I do need a new turbo if I want to tow with the box on. I tow with it off.

Too much timing?

There's NO timing in the Ottomind fueling boxes, a rebadged version of the TST box, by the way.

Where's all this timing coming from your'e talking about? A lot of people stack boxes with no issues at all.

Baby bombers beware the BANKS. :(

Please explain why the head gasket 'exploding' was the fault of the Banks equipment?

Your crazy if you think Banks had anything to do with your failure. You should have left the EZ and injectors out of the equation, you would have had plenty of power to pull any grade with any trailer. If you want more power that's fine, but don't blame banks.

The Ottomind is a duration box only. No timing. It will work fine with injectors, you just need the air. It doesn't start giving extra fuel until some boost is made so there is no help at the bottom end. This is why I added the 275s. I am very happy with the combo and still run the stock HY35. I don't drive heavy footed nor do I tow often so I haven't had any EGT problems but I would really like to get a HX or PDR 35. If you are gonna go bigger than 275s, I'd say you'll need a bigger huffer. The Ottomind has the defueling feature that will stop fueling if EGTs get too high. However, I've heard others with Ottomind defueling because EGT rise too quickly (not too high) for the Ottomind. I can't speak to that. Some have added a timing box with the Ottomind with good results, other have not (above). If you haven't up graded your driveline with the PP (I had to), you will definitely need it with PP and injectors.

The signature says it all. Having the Big Hoss set on level 5 does get a little smokey with the Catcher ECM at low RPM's and a heavy foot. Its a delicate balance of low RPM's and and acceleration to keep the smoke low. Once the RPM's are up, hang on!!. When I say the RPM's need to be up, I'm not talking over 2,000 maybe 1,500 It seems to be a nice combination of toys on the engine.

Hope this helps.

I'm crazy.

Okay.

But it was Bank's Tech dept. that TOLD ME TO ADD THE EZ AND INJECTORS!

They lied to me to make a sale. Now that I know what happened inside my number 5 and number 6 cylinders, I realize they lied to me.

But, then again, I'm crazy.

It was not only timing that killed my ETH, it was... ... ..... never mind.

I forgot I was crazy.
