Well its time to get a cell phone. Looking for only 20 minutes a month. No long distance charges. Nothing fancy no bells or whistle. Just a plain ol good cell phone. Some thing in the MN erea.

Don't know about best plans where you live, but 20 mins. a month isn't very much when you take into consideration that all the cell and PCS plans I know of round up to the next minute. Some plans start from the time you press send or talk. Phone rings for ten seconds before answer, talk for 51 secs. and you just got charged 2 mins. Digital (PCS) plans normally get the first incoming minute free, analog (cell) plans normally don't. So if you get a wrong number call that lasted 5 secs. you got another minute deleted from your 20. If you are using your phone strictly for emergencies only and an occasional call, then 20 min. might be enough.

I'm with Koa Man. Go digital. I'm getting 400 minutes a month pluse free long distance anywhere in the country for $50 /mo. Works out great for me. One word of advice, STAY AWAY FROM CENTURYTEL!!! If you don't you WILL regret it.
BTW, PCS isn't avail. in most of our area. It's only avail. around the 'Cities. Email me if you have any other questions.

jeff, check out ALLTEL they have some pretty good programs. I can use my phone in any of 9 different states and call anyplace in the US as a local call. 400 minutes for $39. a month, plus its anolog so it works when digital doesn't. Pete

Jeff,

Check out VERIZON wireless, I have a dualband phone, (digital and analog) so I can usually pick up a signal anywhere. My plan is 400 anytime minutes per month with NO long distance or roaming charges for $39. 99 per month. As long as I am in my "HOME" calling area (WA, OR & N. Idaho) I can call anywhere in the US as if it was a local call.

If you want a "cheap" cell phone, here is the way to go about it. Find someone's old analog phone. Find someone driving an expensive SUV with one of the new small phones grafted into their ears. They will probably have several old phones which have lost their status sitting in a drawer somewhere. Take them off their hands. I have four phones now, paid $10 for one, others free. Take the phone down to a friendly cell phone store and sign up for a basic plan, NO Minutes. Have them program the phone for you. Buy a new NiH battery. I pay $14/month for each phone, digital or analog, but the downside is that I pay about $0. 24/min. If you don't plan on having the phone grafted into your ear, and just want a phone in the glove box, try this.
