Tire Max Load Rating Question

Hey All

Working on a 2011 KW T800 with a ISX15 cummins, I am looking for a rs485 data link to pull, RPM, MPH, HOBBS ect. . I have tried the diagnostic plug on the truck, but appears to be shooting data out for a scanner (j1939 plug I suspect) Anyway looking for a line like the older ecm trucks used to run that gave a steady stream of engine status. Maybe things have changed so much this no longer exist, Thanks in advance for any info.

Doesn't look promising, I have flailed around in QuickServe and just finished a discussion with two techs.

In QuickServe they show that engine having either the J1939 type for trucks and the RS485 is used on gensets, pumps, etc. with the ISX15 that you are blessed with. It is one or the other.

The only thing we can think of without knowing what you are trying to do would be adding your own speed sensor independant of the trucks systems. In other words the engine speed is delivered to the ECM by the Cam and Crank Position Sensors. There is a Tach Sensor in the flywheel housing that simply supplys a signal to the tach in the trucks dash. Freightliner has used a sensor with four wires rather than two in the past to supply signal to the tach and another accessory at the same time. You could make your own signal circuit using the two extra wires.

This is only theory and discussion at this point but maybe get you thinking along different lines. It is getting so that any add-ons to these new trucks requires creating your own wiring, you simply cannot interface with the chassis anymore.

Also had a discussion regarding the turn signals, trailer package is the only clean feed to be had if similar to a Cascadia. If the KW does not have a trailer package then you are lacking the module that converts the signal from the trucks wiring into a clean 12 volt output. Maybe should see how much that would cost and add it????????

Just some thoughts from the Maine Peanut Gallery.

Mike. :)
