I have a buddy in Kalamazoo Michigan looking for a good dealer. that does not want to void his warrantee over an exhaust system, ez.

Don's Auto Clinic in Cadalac is a 5 star dealer that knows what they are doing and has always treated me right. I drive a 100 miles to have my truck serviced there. Phil is the owner and both of his sons work with him. Google Don's Auto Clinic for their web sight with phone numbers etc.

A little closer..

Give Cole in Marshall a try. The only time my truck's ever been in for warranty work, was there. (not where I purchased) I was open with the service manager about my mods, and he treated me fair. I'v got a bit more than that on my truck and didn't get any gripes. (only compliments :) ) They warranted an axle u joint and other components on my front end, even with the KORE. Overall, they were very reasonable and fair. I'd go back if i needed warranty work again.

I'd take the EZ off for service. Especially as easy as it is to unplug.

My . 02

Wayland Chrysler in Wayland. Right up 131 from K'zoo. The Diesel Tech. Kelvin, is a TDR member. He knows his stuff.

I'm the buddy from Kalamazoo. Actually, I'm from northeast of Plainwell. I just joined today and I like the idea of giving the work to a member. Do you know for sure that the Wayland Chrysler dealer won't try to give me grief about mods to the truck? The EZ is easy enough to take off, but the exhaust is another story. I'm having some trouble with the transmission starting to slip. (of course) Need to have it looked at pretty soon. Almost done hauling the sleds, but bass season is right around the corner.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Well, if they are a good dealer they will understand that the exhaust has nothing to do with a transmission slipping and will fix it under warranty. Any dealer that tries to void your entire warranty due to modding one part of the truck should be walked away from immediately. First, doing so is illegal and second there is always a dealer that would love to do the work for you. Now the EZ could be blamed for the transmission slipping, so I would probably take that off just so they don't have to say anything about it.

Unfortunately, dealer service is a krapp-shoot.

The dealer near my house has been real good about taking care of stuff under warranty.

The problem is the work needs to be gone over 50% of the time. the guys turning the wrenches are slobs (workmanship).

The body shop manager has taken care of business. He has gone out of his way for me on so many things, I find it hard to complain when I do have a problem.

PM me if you want my phone # (I live in Plainwell also). Wayland is good people. Have a couple stories (good) about them vs locals. I'd take the EZ off just 'cause, but I'm sure the exhaust is ok. They are the only people I would buy a truck from...

Example of sloppy work:

When doing my own oil change I notice the dummbbazzss left the caps off when they charged the AC. Morons!!

Bluthndr, kdurkee,

Both you guys are pretty close. I'm just north of Delton.

Blu, I've seen your truck around. Didn't you used to run Belle Tire stickers? Nice lookin truck, man.

I'll have to look at Wayland. They'll be a whole lot closer for me. I really like that their tech is TDR.

Yup - used to run the Belle Tire in Kalamazoo on Westnedge, then the one in Plainwell. I left to buy a Snap-On franchise (and free up my Saturdays), but I miss wrenching...

Anyways, Wayland has covered things under warranty (legitimately) that other dealers have refused to for me AND other members of my family. They have always given me the benefit of the doubt (and then some) when I have a concern. Even gave me some tech support when my V10 holed the piston & I swapped in my diesel.

They have all my business, even though they are the 3rd closest (20 minutes one way) Chrysler dealer to me to deal with (the only?) people who stand behind what they sell. It is worth the drive to me, and as long as Gene (owner) and Paul (parts/service) are there, they will get my business.

Also, for what it's worth, they probably sell more Cummins trucks than most or all of the other dealers around us. They are disproportionately truck oriented - lots of farmers around there. One half of their lot is Rams, the other half everything else... Unless you live a LONG ways away - I don't know why you wouldn't go there...
