Looking for dually light mounting information

Looking for 350 light mounting information

So, I have this wonderful idea of adding the 5 rear clearance lights to the truck as it never had any. Question is where do I put the holes!? I have no 350 friends locally to measure off of. Are they on the tailgate, the box?? Also how far apart and how are they centered?



Next question is how are they mounted? Screws? Bolts?

The ones ive seen are on the lower tail gate id look at my 85 but it dont have a factory tail gate . I put them on my 92 below the tail gate just 3 in the center

No. Actually 5. 3 in center and on each end.

The light center lines are 4", 26" in from the side of the gate & middle one is on center. The edge of the bases are mounted about 1/16" up from the lower edge of the gate. The wire harness is feed through the drivers side tailgate pivot pin. No source on the light mounts & harness other than wrecking yards.

I'll check on the mounting method in the morning

hmmm, the 85 dually gate that i had only had 3 lights in the center ... not 5, of course adding 2 would be awesome as I love me some lights . Robert, are you going to make all your dually lights led lights? I think that's what i plan on doing to my crew project

Robert, the number of lights discussion makes me think the 89+ trucks only had three in the center, like the 94+. I understand if you want 5... . the 89+ had a three light strip bolted in the center..... I'll look around for the '85 lights off Mikee's and see what he had and didn't use... . FWIT, the '94+ trucks used the same lights, with the similar mounts in the fenders... . I'll look and see if they had rubber mounts under them. If so, they might be available from dodge for something like an '02.....

As for the LED, no. I am not a fan of those. Staying with keeping this truck look stock.

According to the 80s brochures I have, the trucks had 5.



I have not come accross my 89-93 brochures yet so I cant comment on that, but this is what the 93 service manual shows:

Hmm, guess I'm wrong, then... . must be confused with another one... . not that that shocks anyone, I'm sure..... Oh, and I forgot to check out the '97 bed I've got off the hill... . be back in a few!!



Ok, ran down off the hill, pulled a light off a '97 bed, and found a few things. First off, there is no rubber behind it. The lights sit in a recess, screwed on. BUT, check out the wire loom behind it... ...



OH, and there are only three lights on the tailgate on that '97 bed!! Screwed to a plastic center piece, which is screwed to the tailgate in the recess... .

That makes sense. We had a 1995 Dually brand new and only remember 3.

As for the light, yup. Figures. Chrysler never changed them! That is the same light and harness! Too bad they dont use the rubber but... .
