So who is running any of the after-market bumpers on their Rams. Besides ARB and UTE, what others are availiable. Who's got them the cheapest. Unfortunately I ran over a mailbox and messed up the sport bumper. I would have never guess that the mailbox would win in a fight with a 7500 pound truck. :{ Oh well..... guess this gives me my excuse to get my bumper. :D What really gets me is the wife thinks she gets a kayak instead of me fixing my truck. :-laf :-laf :-laf :-laf Anyways, I need suggestions... ... please help.

PS. Post pics too please. Specifically, a Flame Red quad cab would be great. ;)

Can't help you on the Flame Red Quad Cab pic thing, but check my gallery. I had it made and you could do the same. Cost was about half of the others.

Denver Offroad has a nice unit, as does Buckstop (my favorite of the aftermarket bumpers http://buckstop.biz/). Pro-Zapp and Road Armer are other options. http://www.roadarmor.com/

I have their rear bumper and really like it.

If you don't like the jungle-gym look, click on the " bumpers without winches" box for a more understated look. They are located just south of Portland. IMO, these are very high quality units. There was a TDR group purchase a few months ago.

I have a Buckstop bumper, the addy has already been posted so I want repeat it. I don't think Buckstop is as well known as some of the other mentioned bumpers, but they aregaining ground. Pictured below is the winch mount/full option Buckstop. Where are several other member that run this same type bumper, maybe they will click in? I can say that I was very pleased with it's build quality and with it's ease of installation (everything fit right, no drilling, just bolt it up) Also I am not supprised that a mail box took out your stock bumper. I thought they were more substantual myself, till I removed my, just one brace that came with the Buckstop weighed more then the whole stock bumper!

They do make a non-winch bumper also, it is lighter and doesn't come with light buckets, grill guard, tow hooks, or access door.

Also they make a rear bumper. It is very nice, and is stronger then the stocker, but isn't as massive as the front, more dectitive then functional.

I don't have a pic but I love my Denver Off Road bumper. Craftsmanship, fit and finish were/are fantastic. It bolted right up. I had my old bumper off and my new one on in right about an hour and that was doing it by myself. Previous poster is right about the POS stock bumper. I was suprised at how little it weighed and how flimsy it was. I actually just got done doing some research for a fellow CTD enthusiast in Austria that needs a new front bumper (there are no dodge dealers there apparently). So I went to the local dealer here and got a parts list and prices and weights for shipping. The complete stock bumper weighs just 44lbs including the mounts and braces.

Hopefully MACTRUCk won't mind me pointing you to his gallery in Readers Rigs

Here are a couple pics from the readers rig section of MACTRUCKS DOR bumper. Mine is powder coated black but the design is the same.

There are lots of replacement covers... EXCEPT for Sports!!!

There are enough 99 & up Sports out there that you'd think somebody would make a replacement cover for them. I thought about finding a pre-99 bumper... you know, back when they were made of METAL!!! Thanks for nuthin DC.

The Buckstops are cool, but they cost a bundle and I already scare the neighbors when they see me coming with the stock bumper. Didn't scare the deer though. Got me a BIG 9 point, just 5 hours before sunup opening day. Redneck deer hunting sure is easy. Didn't even have to get out of the truck. ;)

LOL. Got a quote from a shop that my cousin knows well. 800 smacks plus tax and that gets me a new cover and paint, the reinforcment under the cover and all the brackets and installation. Actually I plesantly surprised. However, why throw my money to a factory bumper when I will just take it off and replace with a "REAL" bumper. The mailbox post was a 3" steal tube that was cemented into the ground. However after seeing what it did to my factory stuff I have been wondering, what would happen if I hit an animal or another car. Scares me to think about it. It is a easy choice to me.

Right now I am leaning towards a Buckstop. But price will help make the choice. The fact that the Buckstop is made 5 hours away is a definate incentive. The one thing I am adamant that I want are openings for fog lights. Seems that many of the bumpers are not offered with this.

I had a run-in with a deer at 55-mph as well. Fotunately, my Smittybilt and auxillary lighting took the grunt of the damage. However, the OEM bumper did get slightly tweeked.

If you are price shopping, I found that there were several OEM bumpers offered in the classifieds practically new. Seems that many members are not pleased with the factory tin foil. This is only one option. The other option is getting something that is made to repel the environment--Buckstop!

Fully loaded - grill guard, frenched light buckets for 6" lights, winch access door, tow hooks, trailer receiver, winch ready, license plate bracket, and two coat powder coating - about thirteen-hundred dollars. Contact Dorian at Buckstop for exact quote.

Here is a pic of my UTE, it will hold a 9,000 lb winch right now but easily changeable to hold a 15,000 lb winch. Mine was one of the 1st ones so they might have changed the size of winch that it will hold.

A couple of months ago I had to push this older ferd that ran out of gas, when I got him to the fuel station under the lights there were to nice little dents in his bumper and not a scratch on mine:rolleyes:

I think I was the first guy on here to get a buckstop and I'm still happy with mine. 10 days after I got mine on I got cut off by a cavalier which got totalled in the incident - and not even a scratch in my bumper. That's what I call a test.

yeah, anyone got any pricing on the buckstop? i like the no frills/no winch version.....

i just rear ended another truck. i can't believe how useless the front bumper was.

Like dresslered said above fully loaded - grill guard, frenched light buckets for 6" lights, winch access door, tow hooks, trailer receiver, winch ready, license plate bracket, and two coat powder coating - about $1300. I have no idea what it is for the plain bumper because they didn't have those when I bought mine. They also have a discount if you buy both the front and rear at the same time.

Bumper weight

The main reason I went with the DOR bumper was the weight savings. I had the stock bumper, Warn transformer mount w/brushguards, and a 12000 lb. winch. The The DOR bumper built of aluminum weighs 135 lbs or so. That is about what the Warn mount weighed. So I saved the weight of the stock bumper. It may not sound like much, but take your truck to the scales and weigh the front axle. If you have a winch and a heavy steel bumper on there, it is a good chance that you are overloaded on the front axle weight. I always figure equipment lasts longer if you don't exceed it's design parameters.

Just my $. 02:cool:

I got a buckstop for my white sport. I must admit I was a little concerned because I thought it looked a little blocky. The white paint blends it right in and it looks better than I ever could have immagined. Looks like one heck of a beast now. I was also worried about install after I saw the write up on the UTE install by one of the members. Man was it easy, intalled it myself with a hydraulic floor jack and it bolted right up.

DOR Bumper

I couldn't be happier with my DOR bumper. Built for a winch (12k I think), has light mounting brackets, shackle brackets, is made from high strength/quality (3/8" thick 6061) aluminum and only weighs 135lbs. As mentioned above, craftsmanship, fit and finish is beautiful (It's a real work of art). To top it all off Lane at DOR bumpers is a stand up honest straight shootin fellow.

Mine is bare brushed aluminum but you can get it coated. It's kinda like a powder coat but tougher more plasticy so it won't chip.

I can't see how anything could get through this thing.

IMO well worth the $$$$.

For about $1200, you get everything. I had one on my 2000, and had to have one on my 03.

On my 2000, with trailer in tow, I hit a mid eighties Lincoln, and it just put one scratch in the powdercoat finish, but creamed the trunk of the Lincoln.

Bumper weighs in at 200 lb. Here is the one from my 03, the 2nd Gen bumper is identical. You can get it without the winch option, too.
