Would a Dodge with a Cummins Survive?

I am gearing up for a huge home improvement project and am down to 2 choices for choosing my contractor for a new furnace and central air unit.

Question comes down to which is the better brand between the 2 choices

Heil or tempstar?

These 2 contractors are only a couple hundred dollars apart for there bids and these are the brands they sell.

looking for advice as to which is best?

Any help appreciated.

I would look at consumer reports to see how these are rated. I would also google them to see what others have to say about the brands.

I had a Tempstar Furnace and A/C for 15 years. The A/C worked great and only required periodic service. The furnace on the other hand required a new gas valve about 7 or 8 eights ago. The furnace also required some other small work every now and then. I did have yearly service inspection from a certified furnace technician and he also did the repair work.

I spent two long months getting quotes and spec's on different furnace brands when I needed to update. I was looking at Carrier until I read up on their class action lawsuit and the issues with their design of the furnace.

I ended up going with "American Standard" which have very good reviews on line. I went with a 95% efficient furnace and a DC motor for the furnace. This combination has lower my gas usage and electrical usage by a significant amount and I think the savings will off set the cost of the furnace and A/C in the long run.

Good luck?
