Hello all. I have a frend that just keeps puting down my Ram for its lack of HP. He owns a 2000 Ford that is leaking oil from every where. I am asking what shuld be my 1s upgrade to my truck? shuld I go with a TC or ger a Plate and what # shuld it be. I am not looking for monster HP just somthing to get me moving in that direction. Oo. Oo.

He does want a dodge but likes the way the trany shifts in the ford. I have told him of the easy upgrades for the new dodges and I think I have him convinced.

Thanks for the info on gitting guages. But I am uncertin of what they are good for. Just to keep people like me from blowing up their engin and what gauges shuli I be looking for?

Gauges

When I had my TST #11 plate put in, the mechanic at Huntington Beach Dodge wouldn't install it until I had an EGT gauge installed. I am glad I did; that is something (the EGT) you should really be watching. Especially if you are towing. We tow a large(34') fifth-wheel and many times the temp goes over 1200 degrees. Just letting up a bit on the accelerator pedal brings the temp down, though. The plate sure made a difference in performance on my '97 3500. I also had the DTT TC(89%) and VB done at the same place. A world of difference in towing. In going to Las Vegas, on the Halloran Grade, I pass most of the big rigs. I want to try it on the Sherwin Grade north of Bishop, one of these days.

#1 EGT, otherwise known as a pyrometer.

#2 Boost gauge. Get one that goes to 50 psi.

#3 Cam plate. Dont get one too wild, or you'll need to do the transmission (if you have an auto) or cluch if it's a stick.

#4 Piers' governor spring kit. Some might say this is #3.

#5 370 injectors.

#6 Time the engine to between 15 and 16 degrees.

Depending on who you talk to, #3 to #6 can be mixed up a bit. You'll also need to do transmission/ cluch work before you get to #4 depending on how healthy it is now.

By the time you get to #6, depending on the cam plate, you should be well over 350 HP.

You might also need a 16cm2 housing on the turbo if the EGT's are getting hot, or if you tow heavy stuff.
