Hey Folks,

I have been having a low boost issue for the last month and a bit (since the 5600 swap) and finally got a chance last night to investigate. And I did find it. :)

Its the V band clamp that connects the turbo snail to the elbow that feeds to the intercooler.

Does anyone have a PN for the band and O ring? It measures 2. 5" OD.

Thanks!

Robert

Funny you mention that... Ive had the same problem twice this past week! I ordered a bunch of the o rings from Mcmaster a few years back, but I forget the 2-XXX number. I couldnt find them when I needed them so I resorted to slathering it with rtv to get by. :-(

Then shortly after... I managed to trash one clamp. I had got one from our local place that sells stuff like that (forgetting the name off the top of my head), but I know they have them. I will get you the number when I go pick one up.

Robert,

Do you have either the ESN or truck serial number handy??? I have a couple of pet serial numbers for 2nd gen 12 valves but nothing saved for a 1st gen. It may be the same but prefer to verify so I don't create two trips to the parts store for you.

I am home so I will have to use Quickserve to get the numbers. My parts book that covers the early 6BT is at work.

Will check back to see if you have posted it.

Nice. Looks like I'm not the only one then!

Bob/Mike

That's just the issue. It's for the 1990. As for as quick serve is concerned, my truck is still non ICed. Lol. Tried that. That's why I had to ask. I don't have a ESN off a IC VE engine. Data plate off the original crew motor was never there. :(

So it's a 1997 HX35 but feeding the 2. 5" elbow that I believe is 91-94 stock.

Maybe a better question. Anyone have a engine serial number I can borrow? :D

Using my old book I see that the vintage VE engines in there are all non-intercooled. Drats...

So I checked other I/C B series in addition to ESN's for a 94 and a '97.

I come up with the same part numbers no matter what.

O-ring 3883284

Clamp 3069053

I do not have either on hand so I can not verify dimensions for you but you must have a friendly Cummins location up there that could pull it and put a tape measure to it.

Thanks Mike. I will see what I can find. I do think the 2nd gen parts are bigger, but I will see what I can find.

Seth and I just had a lunch time huddle and we THINK (somewhat confident) (kinda' maybe) where it an HX-35 that you will be good. Let us know if that is not the case and we will dig deeper.

Don't want you to get all depressed and lose interest in the other project..... :D

Mike. :)

Haha... I found the same numbers as well. A little late now though!!

But yeah... I agree, since thats a 97 turbo, the clamp/o ring from any of those years should work. I have a 98 HX35 on my 93, and it all works fine. So the clamp/o ring has to be the same.

Very nice. My local Cummins dist was the same price. Ordered a clamp and o ring. Should be in tomorrow or Sat.

Will update when it's installed. :)
