Does anyone know the part # for the wedge-shaped rubber bumpers that are located on either side of the radiator? I almost doubt that they are even available, as I have never been able to track them down. All they do is dampen the forward/backward movement of the grill, but they have both rotted and fallen out. The parts guy at the dealer didn't know what I was talking about. I'd try a junk yard, but anything I find there will probably be degraded, as well after 16 years.

Same PN as the Mopar. It is in StarParts group 13-235 Frame and Bumpers, item 17. $16.10 retail.

That may explain why I couldn't find it. I have the 03DR Parts Numbers.PDF file. I never could find a picture of the part, but once I had a part number I found it with a search. But in the file I have it's listed as "Grille and Related Parts Figure 7-720". The item is numbered as "-3". Based on subsequent examination of other item numbers it seems that any item preceded by a "-" doesn't have an accompanying picture.

That is correct. Any item number with the - is not pictured. Sometimes that can be really annoying!

Is this the same part as in this thread from a few years ago?

Yes, same part. Though it's not listed as being part of the headlight assembly in my parts # file, at least for the '03. It's also been a while since I looked at how it fits in, but if I remember correctly, the slot it clips into on my truck is vertical. If that's the case the part itself will be rotated 90 degrees unless there is something I'm not seeing...or remembering.

I’ve never looked at one on a truck, but it looks to me like the notch labeled “A” would clip over an edge, I’m guessing a metal edge, then you would rotate the part where notch “B” would catch on the side of the hole. I would imagine the hole would be rectangular and taller than it is wide.

I see what you are saying, but the images I've seen of the part on the truck seem to show the wide part of the bumper going across the rectangular slot. Here's a picture of where the bumper fits:

So I would alter your description of how it fits so that the flat side of the "A" part you show would fit against the inside of the right (or left) side of the rectangular opening. The part is then hinged down into the rectangular opening so that the "B" part you show bends inward on the opposite side of the rectangular opening until it clips against the side. I think the notch on the "A" part might be there to provide relief/spring to hold it against the inside of the rectangular opening. I'm definitely going to order two of them, so I'll find out then and post the results. None of the information I have found talks about how to install them, but all of them say it is incredibly easy.

Yeah, that’s what I was saying. The “A” and “B” from my previous pic go where they are on this pic and the curved part goes to where “C” is.

That's what I originally thought, as well. But one of the sites selling this part lists the package dimensions at 3" x 1" x 1". I think the distance between A and C exceed 1", which is why I started thinking it would fit like this:

My thinking was that the "hook" on "A" doesn't really hook anything, but acts as a relief so it can bend and allow "B" to drop into the slot and hook on the left wall. "A" just sits against the right wall of the slot when tension is restored. "C" rests on the flat face of the plate that is facing the camera to stabilize and hold the part flat against the metal. But all this is based on my perception that the distance between the hooks in "A" and "B" are virtually the same distance between the walls of the slot. I guess the only way to know for sure is to actually order the part and jam that puppy in. Of course, I guess I could always just measure the distances between "A" and "C", and "A" and "B" to be sure.

Would be nice if someone on here has one that is still intact and could take a pic. Didn't realize till this thread that mine no longer exist!

I just slapped a tape measure on this area of my truck. The distance between point C and B is 7/16". The distance between point C and A is 13/16". Amazon is showing the package dimensions as 3.3" x 1" x 1". By the way, they also offer "expert installation" for $250...per unit.

Well, what did you come up with, Crunch?

I purposely didn't order the parts right before Christmas because I was out of town and didn't want the porch pirates to snag it. I'm going to try to order 2 bumpers this weekend. I'll post the results when I get them, but from what I've seen posted there is nothing to the intstall.

Even got the right color for you Crunch

Thanks! That could almost be my truck.

Between the pandemic, riots and work, ordering this part dropped on the list of importance. But I just got through ordering two of these from the Factory Chrysler Parts link above. Half the price of Amazon, but they did smack me for just over $11 in shipping. Amazon would have been free shipping, but still about $10 - $11 higher than my final cost here. So now that it should be here in a week or so I am bumping this back to the top and will let everyone know how the bumpers work out.

I received the rubber bumpers this morning and immediately installed them. It took less than 1 minute to install them both. The picture provided by BigPapa shows they way they fit on the frame. You take the hooked end and slip it over the edge at "A" (side closest to the radiator), then rotate it outward until the center hook catches and locks into the rectangular cutout in the center. You will know it is locked in place when you hear it pop. If anyone is looking for this part, Factory Chrysler Parts at the link above seems to be about the best place to get them, although the final price difference is going to be determined by the shipping and handling. Thanks to jghflys for the providing the part #. It worked out very well.
