question about lift pump timing. checked mine last night according to piers chart it is set at 16 dgrees. what i am trying ot find out or understand is what are they using to figure out the degree based on lift at TDC. i mean it seems that you set the pump lift to "X"mm of lift at TDC and that means you are at "X" number of degrees. don't mean to beat a dead horse but when you degree a cam in you don't set it based on lift at TDC. if i roll the engine to X degrees is there a measurement that we should see.

second is there any books or lit. on the workings of the p7100 pump like all the levers and goveners etc. or am i just to get a spare pump and learn myself.

i have a 97 3500 auto w/a #10 plate, and its a dog going to check my lift pump pressure today.

thanks

I will try (not that I am an expert)

when the #1 piston is at TDC the amount of lift on the #1 plunger sets timing. I believe that it has been calculated that a specific lift will build enough pressure to pop the injector more lift will let the injector pop of earlier because the pressure starts to build X degrees before TDC less lift the injector will pop of later because the pressure starts to build later in the crank stroke

This is how I under stand it I hope I am understanding it correctly,if not PLEASE correct me
