I picked up my truck in AZ and drove it to NY towing an empty 6x10 Haulmark . The mileage wasn't what I'd hoped for (11. 1-13. 4) but I wasn't going slow either.

Truck has 3500 miles on it now and I need a recommendation for a good service Dept. to get my first service. At least an oil change without cross threading the drain plug . The truck's gonna live in Phoenix but spend Grand Kid time on LI.

I'm in Syosset on LI and got service for my 98. 5 at Herbee years ago.

Any thoughts on where to take it now and what to expect them to do to it?

If you don't mind driving to Southold, Mullen Motors comes highly recommended, and you'll enjoy the scenery during the trip.

I live up in Westchester County and found that around here that most dealerships and service stations have very limited knowledge of our trucks. There are just not enough of them around. If you are not able to do the work yourself try to find a truck repair shop in the area that is willing to take you in.

There are a few members that live out on the island and may be able to recomend someone

If you don't mind south Jersey, Remsen Dodge on Route 35 have a great service department. Several oil changes done there. They did warranty work on my 04. 5 and did not quit till they got the problem fixed.

For best possible oil change service, do it yourself. I trust me more than anyone else.

I agree! I would be doing it myself normally but I'm 2700 miles from my garage and have no facilities where I'm staying, thats why I asked for a recommendation. :)

I took it to Lee Dodge in Commack. They were the first one that said that they would change it while I waited. $115. 07 plus I get to clean the oily fingerprints off of my Grill and Valve Cover. #@$%!

Oh yea! Why do they all put the sticker on that says next change due in 3,000 miles?

Nope!!! That's the price of being away from home and having to take it to a dealer on Long Island...

Long Island is not business-friendly. Ask me how I know that. Between the cost of commercial real estate, taxes, traffic, and utility costs, all of the weaker dealers were gone long before the purge. Some may have realized,"what am I doing this for, I'm sitting on a $5M piece of property". Some dealers properties became large chain drug stores or medical arts buildings, in case you were wondering where your health care premiums were going. So now, the surviving dealers have to charge what they do just to survive.

Not consumer friendly either, which is one reason that I live in Arizona now.

His Royal Highness Mayor Bloomberg is going after the Native Americans now for selling cigaretts.

Next time I visit the Grandkids I'll bring a case of oil and a filter and do it myself. . :D
