I am finally going to install my gages that have been sitting in the cabinet way to long, and I have the A Pillar all painted, but I am looking at the dash, and I was wondering how others have run the wires and line for the boost gage. I have seen it many times on here, but have yet to find any good pics, can some one point me in the right direction? I am also in the process of installing a new snowplow, and I have to run wires int the cab for that as well. I am not sure where I want to run the wire through the firewall.

Thanks

Grommet

There should be a grommet between the master cylinder and the left quarter fender on the fire wall, it is big and can handle a LOT of wires and hose and such stuffed through it. You may have to make your own new hole but that is were I run all my wires through so far.

If you get a piece of seven conductor cable such as is used for trailer hookups you'll be able to do the firewall push/pull through just once for many future accessories. Tape your new boost line to the cable and have it there too.

If you pull your dash bezel and take the lightswitch loose you'll find a way to route wires and things from under the dash up to the pilar. While you're there, the tan colored wire top left of the lightswitch as you look at it is usually the one to use for dimmer controlled lights in your new gauges. Check it with a test light to be sure - yours might not be tan colored.

Or pull the door seal away from it's place next to the dash and stuff wires in the crack you find there if you don't mind having some show a little bit as they round the corner from underneath. Either way be careful to keep things away from the emergency brake mechanism. That contraption will bite wires.

Pyo wiring

Thanks for the good insight, I am going to pull the light switch here in a bit. I have an Autometer pyro, and it has the 2 wires going to the probe, and then it has 2 other wires, a black and a red, directions do not say if the red is switched with the ignition or not, I am not sure, last truck I had I used different brand gages, and I don't remember extra wires to the pyro, but that has been a while.

Tape all the wires and tube to the end of a wire coat hanger and push the other end of the coat hanger thru the rubber grommet (as stated above) in the fire wall. It will create a tight fit around the group of wires/tubing. It worked great for me. :D Good luck! Phil

Once you pull the A-pillar cover off you will see there is all kinds of room to stuff wires through the dash and it makes for a nice clean look.

Lots of good advice from everyone else. ;)

I pulled the headlight switch, lots of room back there. Just trying to get the plow wiring straight lots of parts, so little room. Exhaust manifold is drilled and tapped, intake tube is drilled and tapped. Life is good with the TDR tech manual at my disposal. Thanks all for the input so far.
