my wife does NOT like all of the chrome getto looking crap... . so i'll have to get something in black and very good and functional... . i don't want diamond plated anything... i just want some easy to install boards that won't fall off when some fat a** stands on them. i have an extended cab. so i want something that goes that far... any comments would be appreciated. or pics. thanks. scott.

Also, Try Brown's Welding at 1-800-625-8712 or (830) 625-8712. . I think that is the number... call them and tell them what you want. . they custom made a headache rack with 6 lights in it to my liking! I will get pics of it sometime soon... Talk to them, and see what kind of deal you can work out. . Just mention that the guy they made a 6 light headache rack for referred you... I told them I would get them some business, but I dont think they took me very seriously... . Talk to ya soon!

Those are nice, but how much are they??? you can get a set of good, Hand Welded, not machine welded, running boards that look good... Maybe it's a Texas thing, I dont know. . Alot of people have them down here. . the people you usually see with the big name running boards are usually RV'ers, or people who are relatively new to the truck accesory market... Sure, they may weigh a little more, but they are worth their weight in platinum! I had some on my old 91 D250... . They went through hell, high water, mud, snow, and saved my truck from boulders a few times as well when we would get brave and go for a ride on the rougher trails at the ranch, and never once thought about giving out!

Don't forget that Dodge has some black running boards in their accessory catalog. I've looked at them on one truck and they seem to be pretty stout. I'm considering removal of my black Westins and replacing them with the factory running boards, more for protection of the body from thrown rock than anything else.

You are right. If you want cheap, do not get the Warn's.

If you want sturdy, a nice flat place to step with rubber matting, the perfect height ( my wife is 5'-4" and says they are "perfect" so they must be) :D :D , and easy of removal if you want extra clearance, them you might want to consider Warn's. Oo. Oo. Oo.

Not affiaiated with any company or sponsered by anyone. Paid out of my own pocket for everything.

Sometimes the extra cost for add-ons will protect your truck investment. I purchased a pair of Putco Master Boss stainless running boards from TruckStuff USA: www.truckstuffusa.com Since I installed them last fall, I have had two separate run-ins (yes, officer, the deer ran in to me!) on the driver's side into the door. On both occasions the body guy told me that the running boards took the brunt of the force and saved me from having to have a new door replacement. These boards are quality stuff! Certainly not cheap, but well worth the investment for quality and durability.

just ordered the unlighted westin's from truckstuffusa.com. website was organized very well. thanks for all of the help... . anyone have these? are they easy to install?

How much were the westins?? I am just curious... I would NEVER own a pair, but I want to see how much they are compared to some of the quality steel boards made down here in South Texas. Would much appreciate a reply!

The Dodge nerf bars appear to be a 'step above' some of the more common brands and run about $100-$150 more. The are good quality, fit well, and look classy. My$. 02
