Hello
I am at work on my ship and one of my co workers husband is looking at the truck listed below.

A 2006 dodge , 4WD , 121K MILES, 4 Door, long bed CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL, 6-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION.

I think they are looking at about $30000 or so

They know I am a CTD guy. I am no expert on this year of trucks.

Please add any advice and or suggestions or observations as to this purchase.

Thank you in advance.

Chris

Just for reference. I am considering selling my '07 this summer (if I ever find the new one I want). It is ultra clean with 76K on it. I plan to list it for $31K and take the first $30K that comes through the door. They sell regularly around here at or near 30K under 100K miles in great condition. At that 120+K, I'd think that $26K number Snoking listed is reasonable +/-.

That will have the G56 trans and dual mass flywheel. That meny miles I would suspect that the clutch has been or needs replaced. Also keep in mind that the 5.9 CR injectors can start having problems after 100,000 to 150,000 miles and they are not cheap to replace. The u joint are also a problem but with the miles it has they all have probably been replaced by now.

I bought my 06 QC short bed 4x4 in January and paid $20k for it. It had similar miles, but an auto trans and short bed. It also had a rusted out exhaust, lots of leaks, rusted out oil pan, bad ball joints, rusty bed, bad gauge cluster, broken recirc door, bad TIPM, and inop. A/C....all of which can significantly impact the value. By the time I'm done, I'll easily have $26k in mine, and that assumes nothing new comes up. Most of these issues are common with these trucks and should be factored in when considering whether or not something is a 'good deal'.
