First TDR post...and a Thank You note!

Hello,

New to the TDR and first message. I am looking to buy a new Dodge truck and would like to hear some of the things I should look for ? I have heard about the death wobble at 70mph but if you had to get another truck what would you get ? automatic or standard ? 4wd or 2wd ? SLT or Laramie ? etc

Thx for your help and look forward to being a member of TDR.

I am only on my second one, but can tell you what I changed from the first to the second. .

For reference I had a 04. 5 auto, 4x4 with 4. 10 gears, Laramie edition. .

I now have an 06 Megacab, 4x4 3. 73 gears, SLT trim. .

What I kept :

cummins of course

auto trans, 06 is much different than 04, tow/haul mode is much smarter. .

4x4, need it where I live and where I park the camper

What I changed:

Quad Cab to Mega Cab, wanted the extra room for the ever growing kids.

2500 to 3500 both SWR, even with my bumper pull TT, I was close to my GVWR in the 2500

3. 73 gears... much nicer to drive and still tows great. Unless you will be towing over the limit of the 3. 73s (13000lbs I think) don't go for the 4. 10s. .

new truck is SLT, kinda miss the laramie, but the seats in the new one ar more comfortable. .

My $. 02 worth,

Bryan

Thx for the info Bryan. What kind of mileage are you getting ? Where did you buy your truck ? How does it ride empty ?

Thx for your help

Brian

Too soon to report on mileage probably, but in a 150 mile trip 60-65 MPH, have seen 17. 5 via the overhead display... 10-11 towing 9500lb TT. .

Bought this one and the last one at Grand Vennen Chrysler/Jeep in Lowell, MI. .

Welcome to TDR. A Dodge truck with a Cummins is the best choice you can make. As far as 4x4, transmission and everything else is whatever fits your needs. My needs are as stated on my signature. Good luck.
