I am looking to trade in my 06 2500 on a 2010 3500. There are multiple reasons but for the most part the wife cannot drive a standard so its time to trade mine in and try this 6 speed auto the other is the crew cab on the 2010 is larger than the previous version. I know there is plenty of threads on here about that discuss everything that has gone wrong with out trucks but i am just looking to see if anyone has some suggestions or things to look out for on the 2010 model.

What kind of mileages can i expect, what are the new emissions issues and maintenance costs associated.

Any on road info you have will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You might get a better response in the 4G forum since the 2010 is a 4th Generation truck.

We get about 16-17 MPG running empty on the Interstate and 10-10. 5 MPG towing our 16K GVWR 5th wheel under the same conditions. Our 2011 has never been back to the dealer for anything other than routine service. The primary operating expense is associated with more frequent oil changes due to the aggressive EGR used on the 4th Generation 6. 7L engines to meet the January 1, 2010 EPA emissions regulations.

Having said that, we moved from a 2002 HO/6-speed to the 2011 for the same reason - my wife wouldn't tow the 5th wheel with the 6-speed manual. The 6-speed automatic 68RFE has worked out great for towing, and the double overdrive ratios in 5th and 6th gear mean that engine RPM at 60 MPH in 6th gear is only 1612 RPM versus 2000 RPM with the NV5600 6-speed manual in the 2002, both with 4. 10 gears. There's no comparison in comfort, features, etc. - the 4th Generation is worlds apart from my previous 2nd Generation dually.

I for one am quite happy with my 4th Generation truck.
