I am looking to trade in my 06 2500 on a 2010 3500. There are multiple reasons but for the most part the wife cannot drive a standard so its time to trade mine in and try this 6 speed auto the other is the crew cab on the 2010 is larger than the previous version. I know there is plenty of threads on here about that discuss everything that has gone wrong with out trucks but i am just looking to see if anyone has some suggestions or things to look out for on the 2010 model. What were the warranties on the 2010.
What kind of mileages can i expect, what are the new emissions issues and maintenance costs associated.
Any on road info you have will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
CH

I had a 2011 3500 SRW for about 1 year and had no problems with it. I was getting anywhere from 14 to 16 mpg on a good day. The main reason I got rid of it was the payments were killing me. I did not have any problems with it. I think I had around 16 k on the odometer. Having the CC was awesome. Plenty of room for the dog. I believe the warranties were 5yr/ 100k. As for the emissions, H&S used to do full delete kits, but the GOV went after them and do not deal with the 4th gen's as far as I know. I did not see myself paying $1500 just to get 4mpg better and voiding the warranty on a brand new truck. Make sure you sit in the seats and compare them to diff models as all the seats are a little different. I had the Laramie. They were very nice. I did not care for the way the cruise control was set up but i got used to it over time. good luck on your journey and decision.

I've got 50K on my truck now. The only issue I had was the wander but that appears to be random thing with any year truck. Also the rear springs are a bit spongier compared with my 2004. But the pay off is a much better ride. The truck has only been to the dealer twice for recalls. That's it. No rattles or anything else. I would suggest when you test drive one take it out onto the highway and drive a ways at 70mph. Check for vibrations (another random issue with any year) and the wander. You would still have the 5year or 100K power train warranty from Dodge and 5 year 100K Limited warranty on the Cummins. (right off of my window sticker) The mileage is close to my 04. 5. I'm getting 16-17mpg highway and around 14mpg around town and mixed driving. Maintenance is about the same as far as filters. But with the emissions a lot of around town driving could trigger the evic oil change warning in 2K-4K. I mostly get 4K warnings but I used to change my 04. 5 truck every 5K so not too bad. If you travel a lot and tow alot then much further stretches between oil changes. But there are so many things that make it worth it to trade up, i. e. quietness, six speed transmission and the exhaust brake to name a few.
