If I am going to have a big butt, I want a big bed to go with it.

I am glad a short bed works for a lot of people but I haul too much junk too often fo a short bed.

At least it will fit the bill in terms of being practical for a lot of people who tow 5th wheels and other trailers with families.

I'm looking forward to photos... .

FWIW - I just confirmed this is totally a green light

But the official timeline is "sometime in 2006" -- haha, you know what that means

Are not the 450's & 550's cab/ chassis only? i. e. no beds on these from the factory?

Any bed that you might see on these are from aftermarket companies "making" pick- ups to fit.

I have a neighbor who has an F550 "pick- up" and it is what he told me.

I believe Fontaine is one of the companies making these pickup beds. Maybe they'll have them for the new Ram 4500 and 5500 as well! :-laf

I seriously checked out the F450/550's before getting my dodge.

Be prepared to pay at least 10k for a fontane bed, or almost that much for any other company's "custom" bed. Also you can have issues with the ride height and towing a goosneck/5th wheel just like with the 4x4 Dodges.

You WILL pay at least 30-40% more for a 450/550 with a nice bed than a 350 dodge and get that wonderful powerstroke engine

With the 550 the smallest rearend you can get is 4. 88.

Do you or anyone else know what the GVWR might be?

Exactly why I bought a F450 for our company flatbed. I wanted the 4. 30. Too much highway driving to be spinning those rpm's.

Or Not!

According to this website the shortbed Mega Cab dually has a job 1 as of 1/2/06. I bet it will be rather different looking with a shortbed and big hips.

Maybe I am totally messed up (wouldn't be the first time ya know), but I thought that the order code for a mega cab was "DRW".

Tommeygun - am I way off on this?

I didn't think they'd make a (real) shortbed dually because there would be way to much new tooling for fenders, etc.

Anybody else?

yep, your wrong... ;)

The megacab is noticed by the "81" on the end of the model code

The Short bed DRW is for sure - 100% coming in 2006

Yeah, well, it is the first time and it won't be the last.

I think this is going to be waaay to weird looking for me. 3/4 of the truck will be fom the B pillar forward, and the read end will have really squared off fenders unless they do the H3 Hummer thing and attach the front of the fenders to the rear doors.

I'll pass.

Your not kiding, that fender better have some serious hours in it, Hope it does not toooooo goofy :-laf

Say Tomeygun if I were to to tell you I wanted an 06 with all the deals going on right now, what is the better price 1% below factory invoice or employee price. I am thinking about trading up but these price tags are scary. If it's true about a different Cummins in 07 i. e 6. 1L it sure is tempting.
