Truck died and coasted to a stop along the road the other day. Changed the fuel filters, no help. Does have pressure to the filter, but don't know how much. Brought her home on a trailer behind the old dependable '92. Sure could have been worse!

After getting home and reading the manual, I accessed the codes. I am getting:

P PCU

P 1693

P ECU

P 1691

P 0216

P0370

I will try to "hot wire" the pump later, but this sounds grim. Anyone have any ideas what this can be other than the pump? Any help will be appreciated!

Wish I did not have to say it...

but Welcome! You are in good company though... . I am a proud member. Got my new pump on late last week and it runs like a champ!:D All is right with the world once again!

With the codes you got, and if the truck turns over but does not fire, it is probably the pump. Mine never completely died, but it would turn over sometimes for up to 10 seconds before it fired when the truck was hot. First crank of the day, it would do pretty good; ify from that point on.

codes

According to my code sheet:

1693 = Turbo Charge Control Circuit Malfunction

1691 = Turbo Pressure Control Solenoid Circuit Malfunction

0216 = Injection Timinng Control Circuit Malfunction

0370 = Timing Reference High Resolution Signal A Malfuntion

That's the best I can do.

based on what your signature states you should be stock and under warranty. Why didn't you have it towed to the dealer to repair under warranty?

Sorry I just noticed your in Mexico not "New Mexico" No dealers huh :(

Tried "hotwiring" the injection pump today... no luck. Looks like I need a pump.

I am in contact with a friend who works at a dealership in the States. I am hoping they will give me the parts and I can do my own labor. It sure would be easier to take the pump to the border 12 hours away than the whole truck!!!

My other option is to try to get the pump repaired down here. I know an injection shop that is familiar with the pump and does good work... might be a problem to get the parts though.

Hey, at least I'm not on foot. I have other vehicles I can drive. I might be down for a while, but I WILL find the way to get it going!!!

Best of luck to you...

for a speedy truck recovery! I hated being without mine too, even if it was for only a week. Thank goodness I had the old trusty '92 CTD to drive. Otherwise, the diesel smoke and fumes withdrawl would have been really UGLY!:--)
