So, a few weeks ago I posted up about getting the dreaded P0606 code on my 2011 Crew Cab LB DRW Laramie 4x4 (added so folks know what truck), but no MIL. Folks said clear it and forget it. So, I did. This was after throwing a fueling code with MIL, but no other indications of any issues. That was while I had my "heavy" trailer (the all steel, 12K capacity one) with my Jeep in tow up out of the Phoenix, AZ, valley. When I cleared the codes, only a couple for grid heater performance were there.
Well, my FOBIK has been acting up and getting worse. I kind of have to wiggle it when turned to get the truck to start. It's been getting worse in the last week. Turning and wiggle will get my dash and such to flicker with an audible and tactile (through the FOBIK) relay sound, but it will eventually engage the starter. The tip to start isn't working worth a darn at all. A couple times earlier this week, it did crank for half a second with no start.
A couple days ago the morning was cold enough for the grid heaters to kick in. So, I waited to start. Upon going to start, it did the flicker thing and threw the MIL. Did the let test and it showed only P0606... I was a bit nervous to say the least.
Went to clear the codes last night and the only codes were the grids again (P02609 and another I wrote down wrong and can't find in a list). The P0606 doesn't even show up in the scan tool (OTC Genisys), but could be seen on the dash. Cleared the codes and no more codes or MIL on the truck.
Did some research last night and it looks like a WIN is in the cards for me. Just not the win I was hoping for.
Questions for you smart folks:
1. Where is a good place that doesn't want arms and legs for these?
2. What number(s) in the VIN do I change to get the remote start (or, can I borrow a VIN? ) I'd like to start getting the parts for the factory remote start and then have the right sales code put in the ECM, as I've read here and elsewhere.
3. What is needed to program the new WIN and my current FOBIKs to the truck? I'm sure it doesn't require a dealer visit, as there's at least one guy in Laredo, TX, I see online who makes it a business to deal with these.
Thanks in advance, folks
