You'll probably want to kill me...

Quoted from the report

"Ford's quality costs have been affected by problems involving the popular 6. 0-liter Powerstroke diesel engine, which was introduced in 2003. It powers big trucks such as the Ford F-250 and F-550.

"The biggest issues we've had for 2004 were the diesel engines," said Jerry Reynolds, whose Prestige Ford in Garland, Texas, is one of the nation's highest volume Ford dealers. "We were spending a lot of money trying to fix them. " "

Notice the quote above "TRYING to fix them. "

With the volume of trucks they sell 2 years of problems is a huge issue. So the question is will they do some R&D on a new engine or hope they finally have this one fixed.

Reynolds said it took Ford some time to find the flaw, which turned out to be a problem with fuel injectors -- a component produced by an outside supplier. However, he said Ford took good care of customers whose trucks were affected by the glitch, giving some full-size pickups as loaners and covering some monthly payments.

Hmmmm I wonder how many people they actually took this good of care of? I bet it wasnt too many. Not to rip on Ford because I'm sure DC and GM are the same way.

Why am I not surprised :-laf

Not for nuthin, but Injector problems are pretty far and few with any trucks built past 4/03 build date. Im on TDS pretty often and thats the least of probs with the trucks.

"Bottom line: We have improved," Kozleski said. "(And) we will not be satisfied until we are No. 1. "

I guess some people will never be satisfied :-laf

From a Ford Brochure, "93% of all Ford PowerStrokes made since 1993 are still on the road" Guess that 7% actually made it back home :-laf

Thats weird that thats from a Ford Brochure seeing how the PStroke wasnt even around until what, 95? 94 was the first turboed Ford, but it wasnt a PStroke.

I'm going off of memory here, I read it in a Ford Dealership in 01 and may have the dates wrong. The point is still the same though.

I wasnt trying to personally attack you or anything, so I hope I didnt come across like that. Who knows though w/advertising, I wouldnt doubt it if they would fudge some numbers to make it sound better.

No offence taken at all.

I was just remembering the highlights. I started laughing and my wife asked what was so funny, after I told her she busted up too. I dont think that is what Ford intended but you sure could take it that way.

Looks like the article is posted at TDS. It looks like some of the guys over there don't believe things even when it comes from the horses mouth.

After reading the article, and the spin that Ford is trying to put on things in saying it was just one small problem and that it has been fixed kind of makes me wonder what they are smoking. OR, more importantly what they must think WE are smoking that would make us believe that BS. :-laf

Actually 93 was the first turbo'd ford and 94 was the first powerstroke. The situation is similar to the 98 and 98. 5 cummins. Ford had a non turbo 7. 3 until mid 93 when they came out with the turbo'd 7. 3. This engine was in trucks in 94 until the powerstoke was introduced. My buddy had a 93 turbo'd in which we changed the injector pump and shortly there after the head gasket began to leak. Maybe should have not turned the screw quite so far. My brother had a 94 Powerstroke. It still had the "turbo diesel" emblem under the F250/350 like the non powerstroke 7. 3 but it was a powerstroke. In 95 they added the "powerstoke" emblem below the F250/350, this is probably why there is the misconseption.
