I was crawling around under my truck today and noticed a loose screw between the engine and the ECM mounting plate. Does anybody recognize this screw and where it may have come from?

#ad

It is wedge in between the mounting plate and the engine in the middle of the picture. Looks like it has a round head with an o-ring at the top. It is about 1/2 inch long and maybe 5/16 in diameter.

Thanks,

Shannon

you know you are a fanatic when just for the hell of it you crawl around under the truck... . hehehe on occasion if you pass bye my house you will see two skinny white legs sticking out from under it:-laf ... ... my wife response after calling my name and then seeing me under a brand new truck is #@$%!

after all that i cant help you but nothing major

i found one of my exhasut clamps loose the other day by crawling around under there as you have.

That screw looks like an Oil galley plug that is used to plug one of the oil ports in the side of your block.

What has probably happened is during the manufacturing process of your engine, a plug was inadvertently dropped and ended up behind your ECM plate.

Nothing to worry about, you can remove with a pencil magnet. Or just leave it there.

Sounds like you have a loose screw!:-laf :-laf :-laf Sorry! I know it is really bad, but I could not help it! It is Monday!

Seriously, if you don't have oil running down the side of the truck, I would not worry about it. It is probably like someone earlier said and it just got dropped into a crack during assembly.

If you retrieve it, you can take it down to the local Dodge Dealer and give it back to them. Tell them you bought it and did not need it so you want to return it. At their prices, you will have enough to buy a set of injectors for your new baby!:D :D I hate Monday's; especially after a really good weekend!:D :D

It seems to be an extra

I removed it with a pencil magnet and after leaking about 3 Gallons of oil it quit, so I think I'm ok:).

I think jwilliams3 it right, just fell back there and was not found, so it is an extra.

Think the dealer would give me full retail?!?!

Thanks for your help
