I can unscrew the shifting lever from the output stick on the transmission. Damn DC didn't get it very tight from the factory. Is there a jam nut on the lever? How do I tighten it? I looks as if it would have to be tightened from the underneath because the boot won't slide down over the bubble portion of the shifter. Anybody else have this problem?

Carefully pry out the cover on the shift knob. If you look carefully the shift pattern is printed into this cover. Do not use anything that is sharp metal. Underneath you will find a nut. Screw the knob on and then lock it in place with the nut. Replace the cover ensuring the shift pattern is oriented so you can read it.

Casey...

It's not the nob that is loose, It's the actual shifting lever that goes down into the trans, I can unscrew it from in the cab.

In my 98. 5 I put a couple drops of loctite on the threads and scewed it back on. It was only a matter of a couple screws to slide the boot up to get access; haven't taken the boot off this new one yet though.
