well , my dodge needs a track bar too. I had it in at 12,000 miles with steering issues. They said nothing wrong. at 28000 miles, it has at least 1/4 inch movement now. (verified) It rides fine on smooth roads, but beware the roads of Michigan. I can barely keep in in my lane. Why does dodge refuse to fix it?? Should I let it break then sue for Millions!!!.

The factory repair manual sayes to replace if upper joint has 0. 080+ play. That is on an 2001 4x4. They should buy you a new one!

Do you have a grease fitting on the upper joint or is it a sealed joint. Just wondering with all these track bar failures.

They seem to fail zerk or not. Best bet is to have the dealer replace it until you are out of warranty then go to a Lukes Link end or a life time warranteed Napa bar.

well i replaced mine about 400 miles ago... . some of you remember. and tonight i was driving home and heard a chink, chink sound when going over bumps with the window down at slow speed. (yes, we have the windows down here!) got up on the bumper and lifted up and down and then had the wife do it and got underneath and lo and behold it was the ball joint end of the track bar??

i just got the new rubber boot from the guys who sold me the bar. could it be out of grease? it's definitely not loose. there is a rinky dink boot on there now. i can't see how it could be dry. what could this sound be? thanks. scott.

The track bar on our '99 was just replaced this last week by the dealer at 75K miles. It was showing some play as were the front control bar bushings, so had that work done as well. Am keeping the old track bar and will get it rebuilt. I think if I scratch the black paint of the new one I'm sure to find gold underneath. Ouch!

Track Bar, in-side tie rod, and drag link replaced at 35,990 miles. Noticed it sloppy for last couple thousand miles. Hope this is not a recurring problem. The "99" was just as tight as the day I took it off the lot at 62K.
