During some routine maintenance I found the plastic housing that runs along the bottom of the front windshield loose. The weatherstrip that attaches to the plastic and protects the wiring that runs along the top of the firewall had come unglued and was hanging by a thread. A torx #30 tightens the five platic nuts at the bottom of the windshield. Weatherstripping adhesive reattached the weatherstripping.

I also found the noise/heat padding had come loose from the firewall on the drivers side. There is a stud and nut that holds on a large (approx 2 inch diameter) washer that had departed with the retaining nut. This stud is located just to the rear of the front wheel well liner about two inches from the bottom of the noise/heat pad.

I have 23,500 on my 2001 Ram it might be worth checking yours. I would like to thank all the people on TDR that have posted problems and ideas it is a great collaborative effort.
