I have a 2002 3500 with the high output engine and 6 speed manual transmission. It has 80,000 miles and the Fleetguard fuel filter has about 8,000miles. On occassion when I slow down and exit the interstate and try to speedup again my truck doesn't have any power. If I keep gearing it down to a lower gear or pushin the clutch and speedup the engine for a little bit it will finally get it's power back and may run 500 miles without any problems It will pull my 15,000 pound fifth wheel up steep hills without any problems. It will only happen after slowing down to exit the highway. I put in a new fuel and didn't have any problems for about 7,000 miles.

Has anyone had this same problem and what did you do to fix it.

Thanks

loosing happen without the cruise control.

It will only happen after I have been pulling my fifth wheel for awhile and then slow down to a slow speed and then try to accelate again.

Thanks

My experience with that problem is that it happens after I've been on cruise for 1-2 hours. Come off cruise and dead pedal.

If I am on cruise for a little under an hour, I get a high idle.

Both conditions go away after I shut the engine down and restart. I think it has to do with the apps, but not sure why. I've read several others that have the same problem.

I just know to expect it now.

I would have the same symptoms with 0216.

Running about same advance position, then major change in advance setting.

Try running at xxx rpm then vary the advance (go pedal) some to reloacte the advance piston to slightly different position and rotate the advance cam a little (ie move the advance cam some off the position it has been in for a while) BEFORE you just come off of it totally and reloacte it to a end position.

I would bet you are getting 0216 because the position of the advance piston and the requested rotation of the advance cam are NOT within tolerance and the code is (I think) generated when the two are out of tolerance with respect to each other (ie why shutting it down resets both to the same reference point).

I think you are going to find that you will NOT be able to get back to "normal" until the VP44 is changed. I would LOVE to see if sending in your VP44 in for a recalibration only (if they will do that) to see if before it is dammaged (we do not know that it is not dammaged though) to see if an "attitude adjustment / recalibration" would be of any benefit.
