In the last week the coolant bottle has lost all but 1" of its fluid?

Was at Dodge dealership today having 2 minor things fixed (still under warranty) and asked them to pressure check bottle & system. They could find no leaks.

Anyone have possible GOOD news where coolant is going-other than into block?

Thanks, Rowland

No leaks, smell or steam.

Have used block heater (just prior to coolant loss) 3 consecutive nights when it went into the 20's. That's cold for us and instant heat in the morning sure is nice. However, had it on a timer so only "on" for 3 hrs @ time.

Is this enough time to cause coolant loss?

Have not read anything about block heater causing coolant evaporation - Doesn't seem to get hot enough for that?

Dealer knows about "Bombs" and has been very reasonable about warranty work on items not related to extra HP; even when fan threw a blade into the radiator (not the first one they had seen). But this may be a gray area?

Will refill and not use block heater - and see what happens.

Thanks for reply - Anyone else with suggestions or ideas?

Hope it's leaking out and not in. My case it was a failed head gasket. Hope you have better luck.

Cheers,

Steve J.

Thanks to those who answered!

Mac - That thread was very helpful!! Did not know about weep

weep hole or block heater evaporation.

Did a search but came up with little; guess I need to

practice searching.

Have you changed anti-freeze lately. Some times when adding anti-freeze back in there are air pockets and they do not get filled back in with coolant until you really heat the engine up like in a hard pull with the truck. Have pull hard with the truck since you changed anti-freeze even if it was awhile back.

Just looking for simple reasons before going to bigger and worse scenarios.

Possible. New radiator from thrown fan blade (see above) on 11/6/03. Have been to gross weight several times since then so assume air would have escaped before now but..... ?
