I just ordered up my tires yesterday. (5) Nitto Terra Grappler AT's 305/70 R17 E. They were the last five Discount Tire Direct had. They got a bunch in from national backorder on Wednesday (I think he said 60) then sold them all in less than 48 hours. Wow. That worked out sweet. They'll be here Tuesday. I'll post pics as soon as I get them mounted. I'm so jazzed.

Did you notice these things...........

After the leveling springs were on:

1) Left side tire sits out of wheel well further. Right side tire is sunk in. about an inch.

2) Tire is no longer centered in the wheelwell. It's kicked backed towards the cab about about a ½".

Not at all. I have not noticed any of those things. I aligned it, and everything is excellent. Sounds like your front end may be worn out, allowing for some serious play. I just hit 41,000 miles on my 2007, so my front end is still pretty tight.

Those are results of lifting the front 3" or so... . no matter if you go with Lorenz, Carli, Thuren, etc.

The above 3 offer 1/2" longer control arms to compensate, and an adjustable track bar to recenter the axle side-to-side.

That is what I had to do when I put leveling springs on my '94.

TIRES ARE ON!!!! What a difference! These babies are the perfect size (in my opinion. ) I'm running them @55psi and they are completely different than the OEM Michelins. Much smoother, although not as solid on hard cornering, but that's to be expected. I used my programmer to correct the speedo and away I went. She's definitely turning slower rpm's at highway speeds. You do have to stick your foot in it a little more upon take-off. But overall, I love them. We'll see how she tows in the near future. Max psi for these Load range E tires is 65 psi.
Here's the pics:

55psi in the rear may wear the center of the tires down prematurely. You can watch them real easily when they're brand new an still have the nubs on them. The nubs will wear off in <1000 miles. Monitoring tire wear by the nub wear has proven very helpful to me in the past.

The truck looks sharp. I think my next set of tires won't be as tall as 35s either. I'm thinking 245 or 265/70/19. 5

Ya think 55 psi is too much? I'll keep my eyes on them for sure. They are starting with 1/2" tread depth, so I'll be gauging them regularly. And rotating them every oil change (7500 miles)

When I was getting them mounted and balanced today there was a guy waiting in the shop with the same truck who said he only got 19k out of his NITTO's. And 20k out of some BFG's! Now he was trying some HANKOOK's on a pro-rated deal. He wasn't happy.

I've been hearing varying reports.

I met a kid with the same truck who races and tows with his Nitto Terra Grappler AT 295/70R17's and he got 40k out of his and still going. I asked him about his tires after I watched him do a 720 degree black smoke burn-out in an asphalt parking lot, and slip perfectly into a parking spot. He said he rapes them and they just keep going. I believe him after seeing that. He said he was getting ready to go buy those same exact tires again.

I think any tire is gonna be hard pressed under the weight and nature of these trucks. I got my fingers crossed.

I dropped the rear tire pressure to 50psi.
I just drove about 500 miles on these tires and I love them. It's a totally different truck.
I sold all (5) of my old OEM tires on Craigslist for $200. NICE!

Update: I've been enjoying this set-up now for about 20 months/10,000+ miles and it has been nothing short of awesome. Everything from heavy towing to daily cruising—it is so much better than before. I love the tires too. They are wearing nicely and ride soooo much smoother than stock, and with minimal noise! In case anyone was wondering, my NITTO's were made in JAPAN. For those that have had bad luck with them, maybe where they were made has something to do with it. So yeah... no beefs, just pleasure.

I installed the Lorenz-Bilstein B-5100 suspension kit on my '03, 3500 SRW a couple of years ago & love it. Before, if i hit the speedbumps in my neighborhood at anything over 10 mph. , the front suspension would bottom out. I've gone over the same bumps at 20 mph with no sign of bottoming out. Much smoother ride in bumpy conditions, dirt roads, etc. I had more trouble installing the rear spring pack than anything else. Did the front myself & I'm far from being a mechanic. Had to get some help with the rear suspension.

All in all, I'm very glad I bought the Lorenz Bilstein B-5100 system. Works very well. Even my Duramax friend who didn't like the ride of the Dodge asked what I had done differently when I took him for a ride down a dirt, washboard road. He LOVES his Chevy!!! Especially the ride.
