sorry you blew a headgasket but that's how she goes. just food for thought, you blew it once and it will blow again. you really should get the head o-ringed now before it does it again.

Is the headgasket failure caused by combustion pressure or oil pressure? Is retorquing of stock headbolts recommended? I know the first gens liked to leak there if cranked up.

How will I know if the head is warped? I would like to at least put a copper gasket that we have custom made here back on. I just wish I had the money for the o-ring job right now and the port, and stud job. I just can't swing it right now if/when it does go again then I should have the money saved up. Like I said though the we have about 5 head gaskets that are blown right now. One has 140k miles, next one has about 10 minutes of idle time, next one has 4 miles, and another one has about 20 miles, the last one has maybe 100 miles all were put on right brand new from cummins and all were on the same truck. Wouldn't you think that they would do something about this crappy design?

Find a shop that has a flat table for inspection lay down gasket side down and use feeler shim all the way around that will show warp by letting shim stock to go in under the assembly ,try half thousand shim first. Flat table is made with Stone top ground fine and true . Ron in Louisville KY:confused: :D
