I purchased a F. A. S. S. from Extreme Diesel Performance back in October. I lost fuel pressure on my way home and when I got home to investigate, I first checked the fuse..... it is fine, I then checked for lose connections..... all good. Before when I turned the key on I could hear the fuel pump kick on... . now nothing but silence... . and the fuel presssure gauge doesn't move. This is my only means of transportation... . HELP PLEASE!!!

And by the way right before I lost fuel pressure it was running about 12 to 13!!! Then ZERO..... all the sudden!!!!

On the sides of the FASS Motor you will see two black caps opposite one anothe with a slot in them. unscrew them and be carefull as they are spring loaded. Pull out the motor brushes , wipe em on your shirt , give em a scratch with a knife , put them in and away you go. Brad helped me out on that one THANKS BRAD!!!!!!!! Oo.

Is this something that I'm going to run into alot? In my opinion in four months I shouldn't have any problem with the pump. I also tried the jumper wires straight from the battery and got nothing..... I guess its toast.

I had the same problem and all I had to do was pull the brushes like Tim said and clean them. It has been six months since I had to do mine and I have had no more trouble. Is is a quick and simple fix.

I talked to Brad on the phone and he asked me to check the brushes also. I did pull out the brushes..... and cleaned them... . they really didn't look to bad to me. A little bit of black carbon deposits, thats it. Anyway no-go... . it didn't work. I called him back but he was out of the office. I guess I'm on foot for now!!!!

Wow still no go eh? That is the #1 thing that is overlooked on theese setups. The motor that is uses in the fass is a beautiful thing as that the brushes are the cheap replaceable weak link as it should be. Other sealed brush / armature motors are built to be throw aways costing you bigger money as the Fass is designed not to be. I am sure Brad will help ya out as he is truly a fantastic player in customer satisfaction.

I hope this is just a fluke thing... . I'm already paranoid as it is. I think Brad seems like a stand up guy. He seemed like he was really concerned with my problem. I guess all I can do is sit back and see what happens..... I really appreciate all the help!!

MTPhillips,

I hope your problem will be addressed and fixed ASAP. I fully understand you feeling a bit paranoid at this point. I'm in the process of installing a FASS. This business about having to clean the brushes after only 6 months is crazy!!!!! I thought these units are supposed to give you years of trouble free operation! This is the first I've heard of this potential brush problem. If I knew about this,,,, I wouldn't have bought the FASS!!! Let us know what your final solution is when Brad gets back to you!!!!!!
