A friend of mine has a '01. 5 2500 CTD with a power loss that occurs at 1200 RPM. He said that he has no codes set. The power loss does not occur all the time. He just had the VP 44 replaced about a month ago. The truck is completely stock.

Does anyone have any ideas what this might be. The dealer did not find anything wrong.

This is an automatic truck. The power loss is felt under acceleration from a stop. He can barely get the truck moving if he stopped on a hill with the trailer attached. He has been avoiding towing until he figures the problem out. Any other thoughts.

Sounds like 2nd or 3rd gear limp mode. The trans will try to start out and 2nd or 3rd gear. Call Bill at DTT to have him help diagnose it. 866-504-4002.

If it is limp mode, you'll smoke it quick trying to drive like that, even quicker if he's trying to tow.
