I have a '99 2500, auto transmission with over 300,000 miles, that sometimes will "loose power". It may be from start up from being parked for a while, or driving at highway speeds (not interstate). I've replaced the TPS with the aftermarket from Geno's (easy job) and have changed fuel filter. When this happens, it may "kick-in" after a short time or it may be this way for several miles. I don't have access to a scanner, so I don't know if it is throwing any codes--no CEL, though. It may go several days before doing this, or it may do it several times a day. Some driving times are just a few minutes, and others are up to an hour. I'm in southwest Arkansas. The ambient temperature doesn't seem to affect the problem. If I depress the accelerator to the floor at higher speeds, the transmission will shift into passing, but the road speed doesn't change. Sometimes, the engine will start immediately, and other times I may have to crank for several seconds, or turn switch off and then back to start, at which time it starts like it should. I may have more than one problem, looking for help and suggestions.

Man... at 300k it could be lots of things.

I would start with the simple things. Battery grounds and other various groungs need regular maintenance. Test your batteries individualy with them disconnected. Clean the terminals , hook em back up start the truck and check voltage while running. Fuel prob mabey. Whats the fuel psi doing when the problem occurs. When is the last time the trans fluid and filter were changed?

Fill out your sig in profile settings. It helps if everyone knows if you have modifications.

Do you have a fuel psi gauge in the truck?
Have you ever replaced the injection pump or lift pump?
What did your fuel filter look like when you changed it?
TPS is eleminated as a problem. Process if elemination.
