Is there any way that you can tell that you have a bad lift pump besides putting a pressure gauge on the truck? and if so what are the problems that you can tell?
A Gauge is the only sure way. Preferably One you could watch while driving. The Lowest I would want to see would be between 8 & 9 psi at wot. At Least 12 at Idle and even at that I would get a spare which will put out 15-16 at Idle and no less than 10 at wot under load. Any other test method would be a guess.
I would not worry about getting a new one right now unless it was going to less than 2 or 3 PSI. If it is lower go buy one, if not buy one when you get a chance. JMO.
