I have a 1997 3500 4x4 with a automatic , missing the cat and muffler. Two weeks ago I had the kdp jigged. I had the stock fuel plate moved forward and the star wheel turned up meaning more smoke. I noticed three days ago I do not have the power I use to in the rpm range of around 2500 and the truck does not want to go over 70 miles per hour. I did by some fuel from a station that I have never used before. any suggestions where to start maybe change fuel filter? any help would be greatly appreciated

I had a similar condition after I installed the 3k GSK. The truck just quit making power after I got up to highway speed. I tried everything, & then read about the lever adjustment. I tried that, and took it for a drive. It was a whole different truck than before, it got up to 90 quicker than I'd ever seen before, & was ready for more, but I wasn't. Boost shot up to about 34lbs. I don't know how fast it will go now, never tried a top end run. Three digits easily. Anyway, the gov. lever was hanging up on the nose of the plate until the adjustment. What a difference. You might give it a try.

Before I changed the fuel filter, I'd have someone put the fuel pedal to the floor (engine off of course), and see if there was any travel left at the pump. There are several things that can prevent full fuel from the pump. Actuate the linkage while watching how things work, you'll see what I mean.

I would also make sure the boost line that connects to the back of the AFC housing was connected with no leaks.

If all these easy checks fail to show any problems then I'd change the filter.

Don't forget to check for a stretched/frayed throttle cable.

Good luck, Ronnie

Thanks guys. I adjusted the pump and changed the filter. I still had the problem. I found out the fuel I bought was bad. Oh well thanks for the help... :D
