Was wondering if anyone had some thoughts on why my friends 95 2500 was losing the fuel prime when the truck sits overnight. In order to start the vehicle he says he says he must pump the lift pump a dozen or so times then it fires right up. someone told him it was the washer in the fuel filter, but he had that looked at and it seems to still lose prime when left overnight. As a first gen. owner with the old style fuel pump arrangement I wasn't much for advice-any tips on where to start looking would be grteatly appreciated. Thanks.

First place to check is a leaky fuel return line. If its replaced change all the clamps too. PITA job, but its the most likely culprit.

I have been fighting the same problem. I did everything that was mentioned, fuel return and fuel supply. I checked the fuel pressure and had good pressure at idle but did not see much increase at 1800 rpms. I talked to Piers Harry and he mentioned the overflow valve as well. I installed a new over flow valve a year ago even though the old one was ok. I installed the old valve this morning and it made a difference the engine seems to idle alot smoother now. Yesterday I had Dodge pressure the fuel system at 20 psi sure enough there was a leak. The leak was located at the new WIF valve which is barely a month old. Put the old one back on this morning with broke wire. So far so good but the real test well be Sunday after the truck sets over night.

GOOD LUCK.
