3rd and 4th gear are no longer functioning in any sense of the word. shifting from second to third under a good amount of throttle and it gave up. now i can drive in 1st, 2nd, 5th, and reverse. i need to know what all i am going to need to get my truck back up and running in all 5 gears.

i put this in the 12v forum as well, but i could really use some help coming up with a parts list for this. i have never had to deal with any of this beyond the clutch. i have a 7-12 days delay on parts do to shipping so i am needing to try and get it all at once the best i can. thank you for your help.

oh happy easter :)

Sounds like you "ate", or broke, the shift fork. Fourth should still have worked if you took out third gear. Losing the fork or its ends will cause you to lose the two gears. Does the shifter go into the gear, but nothing happens? Kind of like being in neutral, or does it just grind and not go in at all?

that is exactly what it does. its doesnt react to putting into twhere third or fourth used to be. you can flop it back and forth between the two with no reaction from thr transmission.

if that was the fork that broke. how big of a job is that?

Not sure of the NV4500, but in the Getrag 360 (1st Gen), you just drop the transmission, pull the top cover off (ok, there are half a dozen bolts), and the forks are right there. Either way, you'll most liklely need to pull the transmission. May as well check out the rest of it while you're under it.

Nick,

Sorry to hear about your trouble. When you drop the transmission you would be doing yourself a favor to do the 5th gear nut upgrade as well (if it has not already been done) and since you have such a hard time getting parts how is the clutch? I know I am talking $$$$$$$ now but since you are in there it is something to think about.

Make sure to give me a call when you get to the states and we will get together.
