Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Lost 5th gear

I just lost 5th gear in a 96 3500 at 170k used for towing a 24 ft car trailer. Is it ok to just fix the 5th gear or should I have the transmission rebuilt? Bob

you can just fix it but make sure you flush it out real good the down side is that it will do it again anless you get the main shaft upgrade

Thanks, I plan to get the upgrade. When I pull the transmission I would like to go to a stronger clutch. Recommendations would be appreciated, thanks in advance, bob

sb 13" is real nice just give them a call and they will hook you up with the right one for your mods. some companies have a deal with them so ask who ever ur doin the upgrade m/s thru for a price. blumenthals got me free shipping on the clutch when i got my transmission from them
