I have 97 12v with TST #6 plate, used to get 32 psi (via westach combo guage) Now I cant get much over 15. Checked all rubber boots they appear OK, I have lost all vacuum due to oil in vaccum lines, does the loss of vacuum do anything to wastegate operation?

Vacuum is a completely seperate system.

Look on you turbo compressor housing (facing the front of the truck). There is a short hose going to the wastegate actuator that could be bad/loose. There is also a diaphram in the AFC housing on the top, rear of the fuel injection pump that could be bad. On the '97s, there is small plastic line that goes to the AFC housing that could be damaged. Are the clamps tight on the rubber boots? Did you check the boots on the intercooler, or just the ones up top?

Are you getting enough fuel? How many miles on the fuel filter? Have you cleaned the pre filter fuel screen? How is the overflow valve?

I had 12V with no power a couple weeks ago. The spring in the diaphragm housing had broke and allowed the waste to open at very low boost (like zero), the wastegate would just flop around when you checked it with the engine off. Still was low on power and had little boost. The lift pump had poor output volume, had good pressure at idle. After the lift pump it ran great.

My boost hose developed a leak at the intercooler. Looked fine just looking at it, but it wasn't holding air. Closer inspection showed the rubber to be rotting? Be sure everything is good.

Mine also had transmission problems, a leak in the transfer case, overheating, and definitely no umph... Volks Beetle outran me up a teeny weensy hill. Not happy.

I bought the truck used with 85K on the clock and 2 months out of warranty from Tom Salida Dodgeland USA in Las Vegas. (My family van had had a heart attack, consumed 2 qts ATF, 2 qts eng oil, lost a gallon of water (internally, no outside leaks) inly only 330 miles since it was all checked before the trip. I was visiting family in Vegas and no easy way home.

Dodgeland, after a little discussion flew me home, kept the truck 3 weeks, flew me back to Vegas, handed over the keys and said "Have a nice day". Dunno if it helps that my son-in-law had just bought his second CTD from them a couple months back and mentioned he lives there and can make their life a living hell if they don't treat hi father-in-law right <grin>

Anyway, Dodgeland treated me right.
