:( I have lost both Smart Keys to my '06. Dealer says I have to have truck at dealership to plug starscan into it to read code to program new key. Little lit hard to do with no keys. Anyone know something the dealer doesn't? :(

Sentry keys.

Your selling dealer should have supplied you with a pin# enabling you to duplicate the keys without bringing in the truck. In '08 in Ca. vin. # is all private locksmiths will need to supply new key in your driveway. Anybody else?

OK, Dont these rigs come with that lockout, towing warranty type stuff? What happens if you call that 1800# in your owners manual and tell them both keys are gone, Or tell them you cant start your rig? Will DC call a wrecker to come take it back?

Looks like a locksmith can come out and program a key for me. In my defense I had a splitter on thre so I could leave it running and lock the truck with the key in my pocket. Sure liked the '04 key fob better. Seems like DC should put a little thought into the fact that htese are usually work trucks, and might be left idling on the job or in the cold!!! Off rant!

the locksmith can do the mechanical portion but the sentry key portion has to be done by the dealer unless you have both of the original keys(you don't obviously)

you will probably have to get a flatbed wrecker and get it hauled to the dealer to get it all done. Do you have AAA?

Wish I got a st not the stupid slt with this foolish computer key.

I am thinking about just leaving the key in the ignition for good and just unlock the doors with a plain old metal key that will fit in my pocket. Why are these new keys so big?

Or i could just get bigger pants ?

Well the problem has been solved.

Had my brother tow me to the dealership in his '95 F250. Man, did that suck. :p

They had to make me a new key.

So the total cost of a lost key ring is:

$125 for house and shop to be re-keyed on a Friday night.

$176 for One new Smart key at dealership.

GRAND TOTAL: $301

And a tow behind a FORD :{

and it will require another trip to the dealer to make them work again! The original keys were wiped from the computer when the new key was programmed.

Not on the 06 unless it was requested.

The pin number only gives you access to the system with the starscan, there is a secret code in the wcm that must match the ecm... ... ... .....

Sure as sh#% found the key ring in the first store I had been to that day.

I called the salesman first and had him look around, he said it wasn't there. Two days later called and said found it.

So now I have three keys, and yes, they all work.
