Hi all,

Trying to diagnose an issue that I've been having a few months now.

My interior lights work. That is to say that the two map lights and dome light do light up when a door is open, and also when the dimmer switch is rolled up to full on.

What I cannot do any longer is click any of the 3 lights to turn on and off while the truck is on. It's a pain to have to roll the dimmer switch full on to see something while driving down the road, and then being blinded by all 3 at once.

The only other item of note is that the clicking of the lights does work in the sense that it will shut the lights on and off when a door is open or the dimmer is rolled up to on.

:{

Any ideas? I'm all out.

Thanks.

I had a similar problem that was caused by a short in the wires that go to the Cab lights above the headliner. The dealer actually found it but only after replacing the entire instrument cluster and light switch. Had to remove the headliner to find the problem. I know it doesn't totally make sense but the short circuit prevented the interior lights from working unless they were manually turned on by rotating the dimmer switch all the way up. Apparently the short shut down this part of the circuit in the in the light control system. It actually didn't damage the light control system. You may be able to verify this by individually removing the cab lights and making sure the connectors are OK. My cab lights were installed by the dealer and not the factory, we determined this to be the root cause.

That's interesting, and might be the issue.
I had the dealer install the cab lights last year also. I think one may be leaking as well, cause I had a few drips off of the passenger visor anchor the other day.
I'll start by taking the cab lights off and checking the connections.
Thanks for the help... keep you posted.

I know this has been over a year, but I'm going to dredge up my own thread... mostly because I still have the issue over a year later!
I've gotten used to it for the most part, but still highly annoying.

I did check the cab lights, re-seated all bulbs, no issues there that I could see, and caulked 'em up real tight this time.

Anyone have any thoughts or experiences that might help?
I'm still "in the dark" ... heh.

look up "driver rear door harness" wires were to short, an streching/breaking.
this is my current problem with my 06 mega, there is a few threads on that

its between the door and the pilar the the hinge is attached to.

hope this helps
