I lost my FM radio reception a few months ago, and the AM band seems unusually sensitive to interference from power lines/red lights? AM still works though its a bear to listen to boortz or hannity while in traffic. It seemed to have gone out during a thunderstorm, a headlight quit working the same night. 1st question- is my radio fried and need replacement or is there something internal that I can fix? 2nd question- is there any way to tell if my truck was struck by lightning?

more background info- its a 1996 ram CTD with the factory infiniti stereo- tape deck and radio only.

thanks

Take the stock stereo out of the dash, to do this the dash bezel has to come off, but only after the two screws in the drink holder, and then 2 screws in the ashtray. There is a large black wire that looks like an RCA cable but has a silver tip on the end of it. That is the antenna hook-up to the stereo. Make sure that it is securely plugged into the stereo. I've had mine in my '96 wiggle out before, I would start there. If it is hooked up correctly, and you still have no FM reception, I would just go out and spend 100 to 200 bucks on a far nicer aftermarket stereo, the reception will be far better, and you'll notice a better sound from your stock speakers. - hope this helps.
