Both high and low beams bulbs. I can't believe that two seperate bulbs would go at once. I was switching from high beam to low beam when it happened. Can some one tell me how to access the back side of the assembly to gain access to the bulbs.

The best truck for hauling ever made.

There is an access door in the fender well that you have to open first. There if you lookn in there with a flashlight you'll see a latch that you have to slide to release the headlight assemble. Once the latch is released you can remove the headlight assemble to get access to the bulbs. I don't remember if there might be one bolt/screw that needs to be removed from the front behind the grill.

Still no lights

Was able to gain access as Keve described, found that both bulbs worked. The H11 blub filliment did not look right so I changed it out. I still do not have left side head lights. Dealer said it might be the TIPS controller. Does anyone have any ideas.

Not familiar with 4th gen trucks, but check relay or relays and fuses. They may be on separate circuits. Swap out the horn relay if it is the same and see if that works.

The TIPM is the Totally Integrated Power Module on trucks built after 2005.

We USED to know them as a fuse box, but due to changes in wiring and computer control of the wiring, they have become the very expensive TIPMS.
Unfortunately, many people with later 3rd gen and 4th gen models seem to have headlight and other issues due to the TIPM malfunctioning. It should be a warranty issue, but of course if the warranty runs out you are SOL.

FYI--A Dodge dealership might be able to be reset the TIPM using his scan tool, though this can only be done 3 or 4 times before it is necessary to replace it at a pretty penny.

Here is a thread that describes the difference between a TIPM and the earlier PDC (power distribution center ie fuse box)

AND for those of you who tow alot, there is this available from a reputable TDR member--

Plugging in a trailer with unknown wring or electrical problems can destroy the TIPM. This device effectiveley and safely isolates the TIPM from the trailer wiring, thus protecting it. Obviously, this is not the OP's problem, as plugging in a trailer would not cause headlight issues, but I wanted to include the link here just for further info.

The TIPM supplies the power, does it supply the ground also? If not the ground wires for the headlights are usually near the headlights assembly.

Found the problem. Left side bulb filament had broken and then re-welded it self back together creating a different resistance tripping the TIPM. After replacing the bulb it took about a mile of driving for the TIPM to reset and turn back on the left bank of headlights. As I was leaving on a 2400 mile trip into Canada I had the dealer scan the TIPM. They found no problems except that a update had not been done. Unit was updated, Canada was great.
